Mobile phone companies prepare for price war
T-Mobile announced this week that they will begin offering an unlimited
voice and text plan. Verizon followed later with announcements for
their own version of the plan.
As most companies are charging as much as $.20 per text message in or
out and group plans become more common customers are demanding an
affordable plan that covers lots of minutes and lots of text.
Analysts are already predicting that this may begin the long awaited
price war between companies as they compete on services and price.
Vista SP1 - another service pack another meltdown
Microsoft is rolling out a
group of updates for Windows Vista known as Service Pack 1. Service packs are not new,
almost every version of Windows has had service packs that address
major security, stability and feature issues.
Each and every service pack that Microsoft has
ever issued has been accompanied by horror stories by early adopters
and SP1 for Vista is no exception. Early SP1 adopters are reporting
systems being thrown into reset loops that Windows XP repairmen have
come to know so well. As always, make sure your important data is properly backed up before proceeding with major updates like SP1.
HelpMeRick.com endorsement brings end to HD video format war
On February 12, we announced that we are finally taking sides in the Blu-ray/HD DVD war. We announced that we would be endorsing Blu-ray.
Our endorsement turned out to be the final blow for Toshiba.
Yesterday Toshiba finally surrendered and declared that they will be stopping all production of HD DVD devices.
While Toshiba has not publicly announced that our endorsement was a factor, the timing speaks for itself.
Ditching Windows is easier than ever
We
have had a lot of bad stuff to say about Vista. It's slow, it is
confusing and it is far from an upgrade. Over and over we have heard
the comment that Vista hardly seems like Windows at all.
In fact, we are out to prove that it is an easier way to make the
move from Windows XP to Linux or Mac than to Vista. It appears that
computer manufacturers agree with us.
Lenovo, Dell, and HP are just a few of the manufactures that
are announcing new lines of laptops and desktops equipped with user
friendly Linux.
Mac folks are finding ways to run Mac OS on newer PCs.
Microsoft is doing their best to pretend not to be scared, but no one
is convinced. Tune in to tomorrow's show for some great inside
information on why your next computer may not be a Windows system.
