Chocolate Turtle Cookie Squares
 


1 3/4 c Flour
1 c Sugar
1 c Butter
3 tb Butter
1/3 c Cocoa Powder
1 1/2 c Pecan Halves
1/2 c Brown Sugar
3/4 c Semisweet Chocolate Chips
 

Heat oven to 350. Combine flour, sugar, 1/2 cup butter and cocoa. Blend till dough ball forms. Press into ungreased foil-lined 9x13" pan. Arrange pecans on top. Press down slightly. In small saucepan combine remaining butter and brown sugar. Cook over medium heat till boiling. Boil 1 minute stirring constantly. Pour over dough. Bake for 20 minutes or until toping is bubbly. Remove from oven and sprinkle on chocolate chips. DO NOT spread. Cool on wire rack. Cut into squares.

Chocolate Cherry Cheers
 


1 c all purpose flour, sifted
1/3 c Firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c Butter
6 oz Semisweet chocolate squares
Maraschino cherries
 

BAKE at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. MAKES 36 cookies Combine flour and brown sugar. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press into ungreased 8-inch square pan. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown. While warm, cut into 36 squares. Melt semisweet chocolate in top of double boiler over boiling water. Blend until smooth. Arrange squares on waxed paper. Place a well-drained maraschino cherry on each. Top with teaspoonful of melted chocolate. (Glaze should partially coat cherry and cookie). Let stand until chocolate hardens. Store in flat container.
