Hello everyone, Great News about my visit with Kyle yesterday. Aug 25 visit and update. Kyle squeezed my hand twice. Once when I told him I loved him and asked him to squeeze back to say the same. And he squeezed again when I kissed his hand and told him to squeeze if he could feel me kiss his hand. *BIG SMILES* He also lifted both arms off the bed for me one at a time when I asked him to and he wiggled his toes on both feet one foot at a time when I asked him to. Then Kyle was laying in bed with his right leg straight and his left leg pulled up to a square. Well when he's in bed with me and he does that he always......always bumps my behind with his knee and I roll over and push his knee down so he moves. When I do this he ALWAYS rolls over on his left side to face me. (Just a habit and something he always does). Well I decided to test Kyle.....I pushed his leg down and low and behold he tried to roll over on his side. He wasn't able to because he's weak but he sure did try. He also looked at his sister and I tonight when we were talking to him, and actually moved his eyes and looked our way and he moved his lips as if trying to speak to us....poor guy...he can't because of the trac in his throat. Today he is having another dialysis catherder placed in his chest. This one is supposed to be better than the one they removed a couple weeks ago and less chance of it getting infected. After this is done in a day or so we hope the insurance company allows us to have him moved to a hospital closer to home so we can visit more often and work more closely with him and.....give him the loving therapy he needs to stay motivated like he was when we visited last night. What great news eh! I thanked God for these blessings tonight. Praise the Lord and God Bless and Keep praying. We have a long road ahead and baby steps is how we all learn to do things. By the way , It was confirmed 100% tonight he DID NOT have a stroke but that there is brain damage caused by the high BP and when they intibated him the lack of oxygen to the brain has caused his current state. The hospital he was in says he was only without oxygen for 2-3 minutes but the neurologist said He had to have been without it for 6 minutes or more to be in the condition he is in right now. Kyle has surpised the neurologist with his progress so far and he is very optimistic about his recovery though it will take time, and we have lots of time, and will take all the time he/we need to help him recover to the best of his ability with our love and help and physical therapy. God Bless, Oh yes I almost forgot...I was holding Kyles hand and he gripped my hand for leverage, and he pulled his head and shoulders off the bed about an inch or so. He repeated this again one more time like he wanted to get up. I encouraged him to get better and build up his strength and get well so he can get up once he feels more up to it. The surgery for the dialysis catherder to be moved to the other side of his chest is cancelled till they find the infection & he is doing better. In large bowl, using electric mixer on high speed, beat butter and sugar until almost white in color (about 3 to 4 minutes). Add Nutella and mix on low speed to incorporate. Stir in flour and pecans, mixing just to blend. (Do not over mix.) Roll 1 tablespoon dough in hands, forming a small football-like shape. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Repeat with remaining dough, spreading each dough shape at least 1 inch apart. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes. Remove from oven and let cookies cool for about 5 minutes. Put confectioners' sugar in baking pan or on large plate. While cookies are still warm, roll in sugar. (Sugar will begin to melt slightly and form sweet coating.) Place cookies on wire rack to finish cooling. Once completely cooled, store in airtight container for up to 1 week. NOTE: To save time, make, shape and freeze dough in advance. After making dough rounds, freeze on tray for 15 minutes. Transfer into resealable bag and place back in freezer, taking dough out to defrost and bake as needed. To toast the pecans: Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Spread pecans on baking sheet and toast for 5 to 10 minutes, or until "toasting" aroma emanates from oven. Allow nuts to cool completely before handling. Place pecans in food processor fitted with metal blade and pulse until finely ground.
