Hello everyone, Wow! I got a call from the hospital this morning & the nurse told me Kyle was looking at the phone & told her he wanted to call his wife. She called & let me know what was happening & he got on the phone:) I didn't understand his first few sentences due to the sound of the trache in his throat. When I told him this, he said "I know" & spoke a little more clearly. The thing he made clear is that he wants to come home. Tears your heart out really, to hear that. I said, "you can't come home yet honey, you need to get well. Do everything the nurse & doctors tell you & maybe you will get home soon". I told him I loved him & he said he loves me too. The nurse told me after that he was trying to put his legs out over the bed to come home, when it was mentioned on the phone. They had him sitting for awhile yesterday. Tonight the kids & I are writing notes of things we like about Dad/Kyle, so that it can trigger his memory. He is reading very well. He is happy that Karla & I will visit him tomorrow. REESE'S Peanut Butter and Milk Chocolate Chips, divided 1/4 teaspoon shortening(do not use butter, margarine, spread or oil) Directions: 1. Heat oven to 350?°F. Grease 15-1/2x10-1/2x1-inch jelly-roll pan. 2. Stir together brown sugar, butter and granulated sugar in large bowl; beat in eggs and vanilla. Add flour and salt, beating just until blended. Stir in 1-1/2 cups chips; spread batter in prepared pan. 3. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean and surface is lightly browned. Cool completely; cut into bars. 4. Place remaining 1/4 cup chips and shortening in small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at HIGH (100%) 30 seconds; stir. If necessary, microwave at HIGH an additional 15 seconds at a time, stirring after each heating, until chips are melted and mixture is smooth when stirred. Drizzle over bars. Stir until completely melted and smooth. Let cool slightly. In a bowl, using an electric mixer, whip egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar, whipping until stiff peaks form. Gently fold into chocolate just until blended. Fold in coconut. Scoop batter with 1/4-cup measure and mound on prepared baking sheets, about 3 inches apart. Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes or until puffed, cracked and lightly firm to the touch. Let cool completely on baking sheets on racks. Don??™t make these cookies on a rainy day, as the moisture will affect the cookies (they won??™t be crisp, but will be sticky instead). These cookies are best eaten the day they??™re made. Do not remove these cookies from the baking sheets until they are completely cool. They are quite fragile and will break if you try to lift them off the parchment paper too early.
