I buy a straw wreath at the craft store then, I take a glue gun and put the candy on the wreath. Walla, a nice gift for someone and it didn't cost that much. Susan H. It has colors and color books, candy, apples and oranges, a few nuts and several other small gift items. They always look forward to their stocking each year. Hugs Angie Thank you Angie:) * It is the Serbian tradition to put straw under the table on Christmas Eve. A candle is lit at 6p.m., because that is the beginning of the Church day. Coins are put in the straw for good luck. Two breads are made for Christmas. One is round, a pogaca. A coin is put into it before baking. You bake the bread with the coin in it. It symbolizes Christ as the lost coin. The other bread is also round. It is a braided bread. There is a hole in the center. You make a set of three beeswax candles joined together as one to symbolize the Holy Trinity. This bread stays on the table until Serbian New Year's Day, January 14th. The candles are lit during the evening meal on Christmas Day. You hush out the candles with wine. Whichever way the smoke moves toward is supposed to have good luck in the new year. Patricia S. Mix with the melted butter. Press into the bottom and sides of a buttered 10 inch springform pan and refrigerate until you're ready to fill and bake. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In the top of a double boiler over boiling water, melt the chocolate. Set aside to cool. In the large bowl of an electric mixer, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the eggs and sugar and beat until well incorporated. Stir a small amount of this mixture into the chocolate to loosen. Add the chocolate mixture to the cream cheese mixture and stir well. Stir in the Amaretto, vanilla, and cream. Stir until all ingredients are well mixed. Pour the filling into the prepared crust and bake for 50 to 55 minutes or until the cheesecake is puffed slightly and no longer jiggles in the center. Cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled, at least 2 hours. Take the cheesecake out of the refrigerator 30 minutes before serving for ease of slicing. Remove the sides of the pan and cut with a sharp knife. If the cheesecake is hard to slice, hold a long, unflavored piece of dental floss in 2 hands and carefully saw through the cake to cut even pieces. (4-serving size) JELL-O Chocolate Instant Pudding 4 eggs 1 cup sour cream 1/2 cup vegetable oil 1/2 cup water 4 squares BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, chopped 18 small candy canes, coarsely crushed (about 1 cup), divided 3 cups thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping PREHEAT oven to 350?°F. Lightly grease 2 (9-inch) round cake pans. BEAT cake mix, dry pudding mix, eggs, sour cream, oil and water in large bowl with electric mixer on low speed just until moistened, scraping side of bowl frequently. Beat on medium speed 2 min. or until well blended. STIR in chopped chocolate and 2 Tbsp. of the crushed candy canes. Spoon batter into prepared pans. BAKE 50 min. to 1 hour or until toothpick inserted near centre comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 min. on wire rack. Loosen cakes from side of pan with spatula or knife. Invert cakes onto rack; gently remove pans. Cool completely on wire rack. PLACE 1 of the cake layers on serving plate. Spread evenly with 1 cup of the whipped topping. Top with remaining cake layer. Frost top and side of cake with remaining whipped topping. Sprinkle with remaining crushed candy canes.
