Sure has been hot! The rains are finally starting to come back to the deserts and we need it! A couple weeks ago we had another family vacation! We enjoyed
visiting family in the northwest part of the country near Seattle and eastern WA. It was a nice change of scenery and cooler temps, but at the same time I am a little bummed lately. Why? My beautiful cat of 18.5 years passed away on Wednesday night :( Sad to think he is gone :( I still can't believe he is gone. I kept hoping he would wake up and he was just in some temporary coma...I had him for half my life just about...I don't think we will have another pet until my son is much older now. Tommy will be deeply missed, he was a special friend and companion for many years. Sure seems like a long time since I sent the newsletter out...As a reminder, due to time constraints, I
will be sending future newsletter issues bi-weekly. I will keep you updated on our latest sales, new products, site updates and specials in weekly solo emails. of the Week | New Mexican Fry Bread Recipe |
| Ingredients:
1 cup oat blend flour or all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons shortening
5 tablespoons warm water
***ORANGE HONEY BUTTER***
1/2 cup butter
4 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon grated orange peel Directions: Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl; cut in shortening. Stir in warm water. Place dough on a lightly floured surface. Knead and fold until smooth and satiny. Cover and let stand for 15 minutes.
Form into 1 inch balls; keep covered. Roll each ball into a thin 3-inch circle. Cover circles with waxed paper, separating circles.
Pinch and pull circle edges (lightly) as you drop into preheated oil in deep fryer. Fry 1 or 2 at a time. Fry 1 minute; turn and fry 1 minute or until golden brown. Serve with honey or Orange Honey Butter.
For Orange Honey Butter: Cream butter until fluffy; beat in honey and orange peel. Serve at room temperature. This recipe for New Mexican Fry Bread serves/makes 12 |
