NEWS
In addition to planning [Mother] Russia, we have been working since January to develop a show based on the paintings of artist Charlotte Salomon, collected under the name "Life? Or Theater?," we presented a [partially] staged reading for an invited audience at the Red Room this past June, which went beautifully.  The challenge of staging Salomon??™s 1300 paintings is a daunting one, but we are rising to the challenge and are planning a workshop in the spring.  Also, we are pursuing funding and residency opportunities.  Ah, the life of a non-profit theater company.

Some of you may have also joined us at our two series, SpeakEasy and The Ladies' Auxiliary Telephone Bee.  Our most recent SpeakEasy was at The Tank on 42nd Street and featured a portion of the Charlotte Salomon project, music by The Truthseekers, a film by Antonia Grilikhes-Lasky, a play by Elizabeth Emmons, and a lion who eats little boys.  The Ladies' Auxiliary Telephone Bee, in which we put on our Sunday best and join our Gentlemen Callers in speaking live on speakerphone to fascinating experts around the country, was part of The Brick Theater's Moral Values Festival and investigated the fraught issue of "affordable housing."

TO SUPPORT this and other great programs, buy yourself a totebag!  Or a tshirt!  http://www.cafepress.com/polybe
Or, if you skimmed over our fundraising plea earlier in this email, please visit http://www.polybeandseats.org/support.html to be our friend.
Or, if you joined our mailing list at one of our fabulous bake sales in Williamsburg (As we like to say, "cupcakes for the arts!"), please visit our website (http://www.polybeandseats.org) to refresh your memory about why you thought we were so cool in the first place.

We hope to see you for vodka and herring (and theater) at UnionDocs in October!
Love,
Polybe + Seats
