Greetings from Polybe + Seats (Jessica Brater, Miriam Felton-Dansky, Stacey McMath, Natalie Robin, Katya Schapiro and Catherine Wallach)!
We are writing with four important pieces of news. They really are very interesting, so please feel free to read this entire email.
FIRSTLY: We are having a bake sale. You may have heard of our legendary toffee bars and choose-your-own-icing cupcakes. They, along with other delish goodies will be on offer this weekend in our regular Williamsburg Bake Sale spot.
Polybe + Seats has been having bake sales for years and finds that sharing sweets is a great way to raise production funds, add new friends to
the mailing list, and let the general public know about our projects. Please stop by, say hello, and spend a few bucks to support our company and satisfy your sweet tooth. Vegan, low-sugar, and extra-super-sugar-carb-alicious options are available.
BAKE SALE. Bedford Avenue at North 4th Street Saturday, June 10 2006 11am - 4pm
SECONDLY: We are (still) in development for the Charlotte Salomon Project, a piece that we have been working on since January of 2005. You may have seen pieces of it at the Tank for our February 2005 Speakeasy, or at The Red Room when we did a staged reading in 2006. You may have seen us at Bard College working in the summer
of 2005, or you may have come to Brooklyn Fire Proof to see the latest showing, about an hour of the project, this past February. Well, we keep plugging away, and will be presenting a staged and designed workshop production at the end of August. Please mark your calendars now to join us the 24th-26th of August at Brooklyn Fire Proof in Williamsburg. Don't worry, we'll email you again to remind you.
SECOND AND ONE HALFLY: In corollary to the above entry, we are THRILLED to announce that Polybe + Seats is the recipient of the 2006 National Foundation for Jewish
Culture New Play Commission. We have received a grant in the amount of $5,000 from the NFJC which we will be using to develop the Charlotte Salomon Project. We are so proud and excited to have been awarded this grant, which give us the time and resources to fully explore this remarkable source material.
THIRDLY BUT RELATING TO THE PREVIOUS TWO ENTRIES: As always, Polybe + Seats needs your support. While developing The Charlotte Salomon Project, we are also raising the funds for a full production in November. It you would like a stylish t-shirt as seen on us at various events, you can visit our store at http://www.cafepress.com/polybe. If you would like to, for example, buy Polybe + Seats a drink, you can go to http://www.PolybeAndSeats.org and donate $10 through our fantastic fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas. If you would like to buy Polybe + Seats an evening of rehearsal space, donate $50. If you would like to have a Named Actor Stipend Fellowship (for example, we would be happy to refer to Ryan Purdy, who will be playing
Amadeus Daberlohn in the production, as the Serge Gavronsky Acting Fellow) go to the website and donate $100. You get the picture.
And the legal lingo: Polybe + Seats is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. Contributions in behalf of Polybe + Seats maybe made payable to Fractured Atlas and are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. If you are into snail mail, checks can be made out to Fractured Atlas with Polybe + Seats in the memo line and mailed to:
Polybe + Seats 867 W. 181st, 4H New York, NY 10033
FOURTHLY: If you have recently been added to our mailing list, welcome! Please know that we send
out messages very infrequently and only when necessary. Also, we will never sell or trade your name or information.
With Love,
Polybe + Seats (Polybe was Gertrude Stein's dog. Seats are where you sit.)
