The Path of Fearlessness
by Andrei Yashurin

What should we do about our fears? What are practical methods which will allow us to attain fearless life? My personal recommendations would include, first of all, such proven practices as meditation, visualisation, and affirmations.

Why is it important to meditate? Because meditation brings our life back it its normal and harmonious condition. The fact is, most of modern people have to deal with constant pressure. Busy life they live, and the demands placed on them by their work, their families, and the society makes them stressed. But these outward stressful factors are not the only issues we need to consider. So often people become inwardly tense as the result of their unbalanced thinking. And even when the outward conditions are peaceful and calm, those individuals still have no rest. Some people seemingly cannot relax even when they take a vacation!

When we are stressed, our life mostly becomes reactionary rather than creative. We think along fixed lines. We take no time to discover and to explore new ideas and new approaches to life. Little by little, we become rigid, attached, and fearful. Meditation allows us to slowly reverse this process. It helps us to become truly ourselves by removing unnecessary tension and strain.

Why then we need visualisation? Because we visualise all the time, whether we know this or not. Pictures of all kinds come to our minds. For instance, when we are happy, we visualise ourselves having this happiness in the future. When we are afraid, we mentally see ourselves going bankrupt, having no money to pay our bills, being in a poor health condition, losing our partner, and so forth. The goal of visualisation is to start practicing consciously the same thing we always practiced unconsciously.

Allow positive images to come into your mind. Allow yourselves to daydream, as long you are not trying to escape from this world into your dreams. Remember that all achievers are dreamers first. Achievers often are criticised for their "stupid" and "unrealistic" dreams by people with little or no imagination. But the advancement of our civilization is dependant on those dreams.

We also need to practice affirmations in order to direct the course of our life. By making affirmations, or positive statements regarding ourselves and our place in the universal scheme of things, we act as conscious creators of our world. As we affirm, we've got to be direct.

Every ship has to have a point of destination, otherwise it will drift aimlessly. The same is true with us. We've got to select our goal, and to make statements as if we have already attained it.

These three practices go hand in hand. If we only affirm and do not meditate, we might become even more stressed. And if there are no vivid mental pictures to support our affirmations, we might get mixed results from our affirmations.

Finally, we've got to act - with courage, awareness, and love. A continued action releases the flow of creative energy, and allows ourselves to become immersed in it. As we stay in that flow, we will experience a truly fearless life!
