The return of the infamous Dub Club to Cargo.


London’s Dub soundsystem scene was born out of love for reggae music; dub tunes played via the handcrafted speakers and carefully crafted boxes all on borrowed electricity. The dub soundsystems and their gradual transformation into the modern roots sound have been interwoven in London’s multicultural musical heritage. A huge stitch in that tapestry was the seminal Dub Club night, last seen at the Phoenix Club in Finsbury Park over 4 years ago
As a run up to the annual “soundsystem meet” known as the Notting Hill Carnival, Wray and Nephew Overproof Rum in association with Culture Promotions brings back the seminal Dub Club to Cargo featuring the original and regular Dub Club selectors including;
The Entebbe Soundsystem a.k.a North London's Rasta Chanters. Nick Manasseh a.k.a. Manasseh Hi FI from the Manasseh Soundsystem forerunners of the Dub Soundsystem scene in ’85, The Iration Steppas, led by Mark Iration, influenced by the Mighty Jah Shaka soundsystem mixing the old style dub with the brand spanking new, a fresh dub from the north London studios with Leroy Mafia and Dave Fluxy, and new club selector JNR International. All of the DJ’s and live acts will be playing through the incredible The Entebbe Soundsystem
With the Sun Shining, the bass resonating and Cargo’s newly refurbished outdoor area incorporating the Wray and Nephew Rum Shack serving fantastic rum cocktails, this is a perfect run up to the Carnival Weekend and welcome return for The Dub Club.
