Welcome

Hello. This is officially the last ezine for the year <grin>. I'm back to running it solo for the moment, while Susan is away, so this issue is going to be short & sweet... Look forward to a makeup issue next month...

What's New from Crystal

Article: Priorities & Satisfaction

I have a date - the new site is about to launch ETA 20th January, 2003

New look is going to be streamlined, simplified, and blue. Yes, blue. I know you were dying to know that, but hey, now you've been given the official preview!

Next big piece of news - I'm looking at putting a Q&A section into the ezine as of next month. Do you have a question or issue you'd like to get addressed? You wont be identified, so you dont need to worry about anonymity (generally I'll only put a first name & state or country, pretty impossible to identify from that!) and I'll send you a full response directly via email as well as including a short answer in the ezine for others to benefit. The questions that get published will win a free copy of my upcoming ebook (see below).
If you're anything like me, there is a whole long list of stuff you would love to have done before the end of the year got here. You may not live in the same time zone, so you may have a little longer than I do (which at this stage is a little under 2 hours) but it's still not likely to be anywhere near long enough to cross off everything on the list. Actually, I'm the ambitious kind. 2 years wouldn't be long enough to cross off everything I set for myself this year. Does it mean I've failed? Most emphatically no! What does it mean then? It means I'm human, it means I expect a lot from myself, and it means I made choices which were, hopefully, to prioritise the things most in line with my values, principles & goals. Reflection will tell me if the last is true, and that's MY version of New Year's Resolutions.

The idea of setting resolutions is to choose the things which will get prioritised in the year to come. I believe they are often dropped because they aren't done as part of an ongoing process. How can you decide what's the next step if you dont know where the last 3 have taken you, as well as where you're aiming to go? How can you set a direction for the upcoming year if you don't first sit down & work out how well things went for you last year.

I came across a book a few years ago which helped me clarify this process. It's called "Best Year Yet" by Jinny Ditzler. She talks of the importance of evaluation as a foundation on which you lay the goals you set. If you take this step, then you know how far the resolutions you make each year have taken you, and you know what's left to build. But more imiportantly, you start the year with a knowledge of what you have accomplished, instead of just a focus on what you feel you still need to do. With a positive outlook like that, how much more likely are you to want to take the next step? How much easier is it to take one more step on a journey you've already started, as opposed each step feeling like it's the first, inertia-fighting over again.

This year, before you kick yourself over the things you didn't do, and add to the list with expectations for yourself in the year to come, take a minute to look back on what you've already accomplished. Pat yourself on the back & enjoy the satisfaction for a moment, before you turn your face forward & decide what else you have left to do. Then enjoy the satisfaction of watching your resolutions actually come to pass, and enjoy knowing how much more satisfied you can feel when the next new year comes around.

By the way, you might also want to remember that December 31 is the end of the year because of convention, and a new year can start at any time! You don't have to wait for January 1 to roll around before you make changes, and you definitely dont have to wait for it to look at the things you've accomplished so far - it's a habit you might want to incorporate into your life more often - 6 months, quarterly, monthly, whatever suits you and your lifestyle best. If there aren't many around you who do congratulate you on your achievements, it's even more important to do it for yourself, because we ALL need recognition to help motivate us. Nothing wrong with that. SWhat are the 10 biggest things you did last year?

Best Wishes

Crystal

PS. Here's hoping 2003 will be YOUR best year yet!
Upcoming Ebook!

I'm working hard on compiling a mini-book on Self-Positivity! In fact, I've got the chapters worked out and am almost finished the first couple. It's due for release end January, and it will be launched at US$9.95 as an Adobe pdf file. What's it going to cover? Here's the list...

  • What Self-Positivity is about
  • How do we lose it?
  • Self-Positivity and Money
  • Self-Positivity and Relationships
  • Self-Positivity and Confidence
  • Find What's Stealing Your Power
  • Re-Empowering Your Self
  • Living Without Boundaries

Sound interesting? It's well in progress, but an extra incentive to get it finished quicker always helps. Plus I like to offer special subscriber bonuses to thank you for supporting me and my writing. Pre-release price for subscribers only will be US$5.95, and of course I stand behind what I write, so if you dont like the book I'll happily refund your money in return for your promise to delete any copies of the book.

To take advantage of this offer, click below, and I'll email your advance copy as soon as it's finished - even if it's before the release date!

Remember it will be deducted in Australian dollars, so the conversion rate may mean it comes up less than $5 on your statement.

Your support is appreciated.
