Blessings

So much happened to us this past month!  We have been so blessed! The painting on the outside of the house is coming along great:  better than it has in the past two years.  We were given the paint as we didn't have the money for it.  We had painted the house with a cheap paint and the color looked the color of baby poop.  It was awful.  Then a couple moved to the house 1/2 mile south of us.  He gave us five gallons of the most beautiful color!  This month he gave us another 5 gallons for the second coat.  We found out why the paint looked so nice and worked so well.  It cost $85.00 a gallon and we didn't have to pay for it!  Blessing #1! Blessing #2 was when RB fell from the top of a six foot ladder while painting.  He landed on his bottom as if he was sitting down.  The blessing was he didn't break anything!  He ached for about a week and couldn't go to the bathroom for that long either.  I told him what did he expect when he jammed it all up inside of him and then his muscles contracted to hold it in. *grin*  Still it could have been much, much worse at his age. Reboot Your Life

"Ask, and you will receive," Part 2 Many years ago I had made a notation in verse one of Psalms 23 to go to John 16:7 which I recently did.  However, I continued to read in John 16.  then, there it was right in front of me:  "Ask and ye shall receive.   In last month's article I expounded on that particular phrase.  Check out the archives if you missed it.   Usually when people use the phrase "ask and ye shall receive" they place a period at the end of it.  They don't place three dots which represents more text or words.  They place a period which represents the end of the words.  Were you aware there was more to that phrase?  How many of you have added a period?  I am just as guilty of doing this.  We didn't go to the source and check it out ourselves.  We followed what another human being told us.  We didn't think twice about it.  We keep putting a period behind it.  Why is this such a big deal? By not checking it out for ourselves we have unwittingly allowed ourselves to be manipulated.  You see, those words, "ask and ye shall receive" were taken out of context.  By adding a period after them we have been led to believe a particular interpretation of those words.  We have been manipulated!  Think about it!  If those five words don't have a period after them, what does come nesxt?  I am glad you asked. When you look up John 16:24 you will see that there is a comma after those five words and six words follow that comma.  I think they are six very important words and they not only reinforce the first five words, they add a happiness and security to them. The next time someone quotes something to you, ask them where the quote came from and in what context it was written.  Don't be surprised if they don't know.  We are like sheep ripe for the slaughter.  We follow with blind faith.  I am not saying there is anything wrong with blind faith.  We just need to direct our beliefs or faith in the direction for our highest good.  Or as most people would say, what is best for us.  Don't always accept blindly what humans tell you.  Humans make mistakes. Oh, yeah: those last six words.  If you haven't looked them up already, here they are along with the first five words.  Notice the placement of the commas.
