To all the new subscribers,

I would like to thank you for subscribing.

For all others,

Thank you for continuing to do so.

PASS IT ON!

If you like this newsletter, forward it to a friend! (In its entirety, please.) Your recommendations are how this newsletter grows. Please feel free to forward a copy to someone you think would enjoy reading it.

Due to so many blessings taking place in my life this newsletter is a few days late.  Changing the format of this ezine is part of the reason for the delay.  I hope you like the new format.  I would love to hear your opinions about it, as well as to the content of it.  Email me at rebootyourlife@suesunshine.com .

A friend pointed out to me last month about all the blessings I receive.  She is so right on about that! However, everyone has blessings everyday of which they may not be aware.  I would love to hear about yours at blessings@suesunshine.com.  You can find some of my current blessings in the section on Blessings.

One of my blessings is the way Life is Like Making Chocolate Chip Cookies is getting into the hands of more people.  You can read about that under Book Update.

In the Events and Workshops for 2008 section check out your favorite author or event.  If you don't see it, email me at rebootyourlife@suesunshine.com and we will get it in the next newsletter.

The Head's Up section has a product that I use quite often. It may be of interest to you to help you with your meditation and controlling your breathing.  It is worth checking into.  And again, I receive nothing from these recommendations except the happiness knowing that I may be helping someone reboot their life.

And mentioning rebooting your life, my consulting times and fees have changed.  For more information check out the section on "Intuitive Consultations" .

All newsletter reprint and subscription information is found at the end of this newsletter.

I am currently working on setting up a website specifically for Reboot Your Life™ with all the details of my trips and lessons.  In the meantime check the main article for this month.  It is focusing on lessons learned from the recent trip I took and the training I recived.  There were so many life lessons that everyone could apply to their lives.  This is just a sampling.

And as always,
my Spirit is sending
blessings, love, and prayers to your Spirit!
Sue

Do you have a topic you would like me to address in an upcoming issue? If so please feel free to email me at rebootyourlife@suesunshine.com .

I just love your participation!

I have not heard from any of you as to blessings you have received.  Does this mean that out of all the subscribers I am the only one to receive blessings?  I think not!

It only takes a few minutes to hit the link at the end of this section and tell me about your blessings.  I would love to share them with others through this newsletter.  However, if you wish to remain anonymous you may do so.  Please share with us what has been shared with you.  Here are my blessings!

During the month of January, and the few days of February that have already passed, I have gathered more blessings!

The beginning of January brought blessings of heat to my home.  It also brought with it the ability to let go of the concern associated with it.

Two book signings and the peoples' comments who attended showed me how much my book has really touched peoples' lives.  And in turn how they have touched my life.  These blessings are savored as a chocolate chip cookie is savored:  enjoying each delicious bite and making a memory of them.

My trip for training and certification gave me so many blessings:  too numerous to mention here!  One of those blessings, however, was the scholarship that made the training available to me.  Another blessing was my roommate who I was able to share the daily events with. And who shared her insights about my struggles and breakthroughs over that four day period.

Book sales are up and how some of those books became available is a blessing in itself.

Please email me what your blessings were this past month! I would love to hear from you!

Reboot Your Life™

"I Felt Alone"

As many times in the past I had a roommate for my recent trip and training.  The trip was to a resort and spa outside of Chicago.  The training was Sonia Choquette's Six-Sensory training and certification program.  My roommate was a lovely young woman from Florida. This was the first time we had met face to face though we had emailed back and forth and talked on the phone.

I arrived earlier than my roommate.  Finding myself alone for a few hours, I went scouting for other classmates.  I said hello to everyone in the hall, asked if they were there for Sonia's training, and chatted a bit with each one. Finally one of these charming ladies and I agreed to meet in the restaurant for a late snack.

We chatted for quite sometime only to realize the time and that my roommate was due to check in at anytime.  We parted ways and I went to my room.  There I discovered my roommate had already arrived and wasn't in the room. After two, or was it three, trips down to the lobby and back to the room to find her, I got the inspiration to return to the restaurant I just left where two other ladies had been having dinner.  Perhaps one of them was the roommate I was seeking.

As I approcached the table one of the women called out my name, Susie.  It was my roommate.  I was not alone any longer.

In the past at other events my 'roomies' and myself would do everything together.  This was not to be this time.  The first day was such a shock to my system!  My roommate and I went our separate ways during the day.  We were not connected at the hip as other roommates in the past had been.  How was I going to survive this?  My roommmates always took care of me!  They guided me to the places I needed to go whether to the workshop room, to eat, or to our room.  They opened the door because I could never get my keycard to work.  They helped me with everything!  I realize now it wasn't that I couldn't do those things.  They were making it easier for me to do what I was suppose to do at these events:  interact with others.  I didn't need to pay attention to such things because my roommates were taking care of me.  It wasn't just my roommates either.  It seemed everyone was helping me with these issues.  They allowed me to do my work and still function in the real world.  So why not this time, too?  One word:  lessons.

That first day was a bit unnerving for me.  I had to find someone to sit with me.  I had to find someone to eat with me.  I had to find someone to talk to me.  Or so I thought. On top of that I had to find my way back to the room and pray I could open the door.  Life as I knew it at an event had changed for me.  At the end of the day I was feeling a bit lonely and unbalanced.

I didn't like having to ask others to eat with me or if I can sit with them. I felt if I asked people I was being pushy or invasive. They had their own friends, their own space. Who was I to intrude?  Why did I have to go through all of this?  What was going on?  Then it hit me:  lessons!

I needed to know how it felt for other people to approach me and ask if they could sit with me.  I needed to feel uncomfortable at eating alone and the feeling of asking someone to eat with me.  I needed to let go of my stinking thinking that by asking I was imposing on others.  I needed to learn that it was alright to ask, and not to take it personally if for some reason it didn't work out.  I needed to learn it was alright to eat, sit and walk alone.  It was okay.

That night as I talked to Spirit God, I asked that whoever was suppose to sit next to me would.  I asked that if I were to eat lunch with someone they would be sent to me and ask me to eat with them.  If I was to talk to anyone in particular that they would engage me in conversation.  I also added that if none of it was to be I was okay with it.  I closed out my request by being thankful for the people I ate with, sat with, and talked to that day.  Then I let it all up to Spirit God and went to sleep.

The next day as I sat near the back of the room on an aisle seat a smiling lady came up and just sat down next to me without saying a word.  The whole row was empty but she sat next to me.  I believe she was one of my answers to prayer.

While contemplating this answered prayer another woman approached me and asked if I had any plans for lunch. Upon hearing I didn't she asked me if we might have lunch together.   Another answered prayer.

As the day continued I kept to myself, which is quite unlike me.  People kept coming and sitting next to me:  a different person each time.  I had many offers to get together to eat or chat.  I noticed that if any one looked up and saw me by myself they would come over to me and include me.  Later in the weekend I asked several people why they included me like that.  The answer was always the same.  They felt my energy and wanted to be a part of it.  They wanted a chance to be with me, get to know me, and it was easier when there wasn't a crowd around me.   Some of them said they were shy or afraid to approach me because I might think they were being pushy.  Does that sound familiar?

While standing or sitting as others milled around during exercises or breaks, I was able to observe all the people in the room. and the wonderful energy generated by them.  I realized right there and then that even though I was not interacting with them on a one-to-one basis, I was not alone.  We were all one.

I was never alone during those four days, not really.  It was my own perception of what being alone meant.  A hundred people attended this training.  In some way, shape, or form I interacted with each one.  The lesson I learned about being alone was a valuable one.  It was much needed.  I can see that now.  In a group of a hundred people or by myself I am never alone.  I have my God and I have myself.  More than that is truly a blessing!

"Just A Side Note"

Over the past several years on my travels I have noticed people from all walks of life, different cultures, races, and religions becoming one family, being helpful, and joing together for a common good.  I have seen it in airports, on buses, in workshops, in shuttle cars and limosines, and many other places.  They band together in a room, in a vehicle, or in a particular area to share one thing, or perhaps more than one thing, between them.  It is just like one big happy family:  strangers with a common bond.

So how is it the world is in such a mess?  Is it because when we leave that common denominator we have with these strangers we do not embrace them the same?  Are we as apt to invite that same stranger for a meal, hold a door open for them, say a kind word to them, ask to sit next to them, or even smile at them under different circumstances?

Do we have a tendency to hold back just because we don't know them or we have not been formally introduced?  Or is it more than that?  Could it be the clothes they wear, the way they smell, how clean they are, or the color of their teeth that puts us off?  Could it be they talk too loud or soo soft?  Do they hang their head rather than hold it up high? Do they appear less intelligent than ourselves?  Or is it something else?

I have noticed strangers with a common bond hugging, engaging in conversation, and even sharing a meal with other people they wouldn't normally give a second look. Why?  They then leave that common bond and walk away returning to their 'normal' habit of treating those 'type' of strangers differently.  In any other place or time they wouldn't give these people the time of day.  Why is this?  What has changed?

Are you this way?  Are you put off by someone because of looks, smell, mannerisms, etc. only to discover they share common interests or acquaintances?  Then you embrace them.  Do you ignore someone who doesn't 'resonate' with you only to find out later mybe you should have paid more attention to them?

Why do we interact with strangers on a bus only to deliberately not interact with their 'kind' when we are off the bus?  Think about it.  What in our individual character calls us to act so differently to the same person, or type of person?

The next time you interact with a stranger in an elevator, on a plane, at a convention, workshop, or spa, or even at the store, think about what your reaction to that person is. Think about why you react that way.  Go inside yourself and see what fears arise to make your interactions or lack of interactions what they are.  Do you need to reboot a part of your life:  that part that holds you back from truly interacting and embracing others?  Think about it.  Make your life interactions more fulfilling.

Don't judge.  Don't assume.  Just Love!

Computer Game for Meditation

This month I would like to tell you about a computer game to help you with your meditation practice.  This game has been out for several years and I highly recommend it.

The Journey to Wild Divine: The Passage is a biofeedback program made to be used in conjunction with your computer.  It teaches and guides you in learning breathing techniques to help you, not only in your meditation but, in your day to day activities.

I play it for the game as well as for practicing the breathing techniques to help me in my meditation and to function better throughout the day.

It may appear quite pricey for a game but the biofeedback equipment is included.  It is well worth the cost.  They have also added other products to their line.  When you purchase this game or any of their other products, let me know your opinions.  If you already have any of these products, please share your experiences using them with us.  The link to check out The Journey to Wild Divine:  The Passage is www.wilddivine.com.

Mark Stanton Welch

Another Head's Up this month is about music.  Mark Stanton Welch travels all over the world using his music in workshops.  He is a singer, songwriter, and educator.  His original material is currently available at www.markstantonwelch.com.  Check it out and let me know what you think of his music.
I would love to hear your feedback at headsup@suesunshine.com .

Stalking Spirit
by Malcom R. Campbell

"You have to stalk everything. Everything scatters and gathers; everything comes and goes like fish under a bridge. You have to stalk the spirit, too. You can wait forgetful anywhere, for anywhere is the way of his fleet passage, and hope to catch him by the tail and shout something in his ear before he wrests away." –Annie Dillard, "Pilgrim at Tinker Creek"

Writers are Seekers As the illusions of time and space unfold along the writer's path, there will come a seemingly random moment when spirit speaks and is heard. You are now forever changed. Your journey–which you thought was focused only on words and stories–begins to take on unimaginable new dimensions. Once you discover spirit is real, you will also discover that you must find it and know it. Spirit is ever illusive. It does not wait for you at the corner of West Wood Street and Fairview Avenue or beside the White Bark Pine in the meadow.

It is not standing in the baggage claim section of an airport holding up a sign with your name on it. You won't get a "wish you were here" postcard from spirit in the today's mail. You must stalk spirit as you might stalk a deer or a bear.

You are most likely to find spirit when you are quiet, alert, and observant. Set aside logic and allow your intuition to guide you While your five senses may deceive you, use them to explore what you usually ignore—the shadows between the leaves of a tree rather than the leaves, the scents carried on the wind, the music in the bubbling brook, the taste of air, the texture of rock.

Unlike stalking a deer or a bear, you do not know—and cannot guess—what exactly you are seeking. Spirit leaves no easily discernible tracks to be identified with a Peterson's field guide.

Do not try to imagine what spirit will look like, sound like, taste like, feel like or smell like or how you might discover it within your thoughts.

And do not seek out spirit as you have read about it in books, seen it in movies, or heard about it from friends. Your expectations will limit your experience and further hide spirit.

"Expectation can only be based on what you already know. In the end you are after what you cannot conceive,' writes Eric J. Pepin in The Handbook of the Navigator. "By looking for experiences you can relate to you will overlook what you are truly searching for." Finding spirit is less important than searching for spirit.

In fact, the casually expectant hush of the search will change you, enhance you, transform you and bring you closer to worlds outside your dreams. You will find yourself writing new stories and new articles with words you did not think you knew.

There is no schedule, no expectation, and no goal. As a seeker on the path, you will ultimately throw away roadmaps and guidebooks and you will ignore well-travelled roads, trail signs and blazed trees. This is a spontaneous path of feelings, hunches, impulses and apparent coincidences.

Above all, a writer must always be listening, waiting.

When you can silence the chatter inside your head, when you can forget yourself and all your wish lists, and when you can focus on nothing rather than on the outcome you have always desired, you will be ready. Spirit will not write your next book, your next blog entry, your next story.

Spirit doesn't take dictation, it inspires. And then, you will discover again and again that your childlike wonder and your patient stalking of spirit is bringing to your writing a glow, a sparkle, and a mysterious hint of things unseen.
