DVD RELEASE, October 30th Apple Corps Ltd have announced the eagerly anticipated DVD release of The Beatles' second feature film 'Help!' on October 30th. The DVD will be a 2-disc set. Disc 1 will feature the original film digitally restored with a newly created 5.1 soundtrack, while Disc 2 contains an hour of extra features, including: * The Beatles in Help! - 30 minute documentary about the making of the film with Richard Lester, the cast and crew. Includes exclusive behind the scenes footage of The Beatles on set. * A Missing Scene - interview and photographs, featuring Wendy Richard * The Restoration of Help! - an in depth look at the restoration process. * Memories of Help! - the cast and crew reminisce * Theatrical Trailers - 2 US trailers and 1 Spanish trailer. * 1965 US Radio Spots - hidden in disc menus. There will be 2 editions of the DVD - a standard digipack and a deluxe boxed set that will contain a reproduction of Richard Lester's original annotated script, 8 lobby cards and a poster, plus a 60-page book with rarely seen photographs and production notes from the movie. The Imagine Peace Tower is a powerful beacon of light representing people's wishes for peace, set to shine every year between October 9, Lennon's birthday, and December 8, the anniversary of his death. Yoko Ono told NYPost.com: "I wanted the tower to stay forever, but 24 hours a day, 365 days a year is heavy maintenance and electricity. With 24-hour daylight in summer, keeping it visible becomes an expensive undertaking, which scared the administration. So for now, it starts from John's birthday until his death - Oct. 9 to Dec. 8. Creating it wasn't that expensive. The government helped since this becomes a tourist attraction. I realized that, with contrasting the two symbolic dates, it gives an understanding of the shortness of life, and eternity of the spirit. It reminds one how brief life can be and is significant even for those not into John Lennon's life. "Actually, this is answered prayer because my first time in John's house he talked about building a lighthouse. I never knew how to conceptualize that. I never believed this could be reality. The film will chronicle Harrison's life from his days with the Beatles through his solo career, as well as his time as a film producer whose company, Handmade Films, made movies like "Monty Python's Life of Brian" and "Time Bandits," Variety.com said Thursday. Scorsese said he planned to produce the movie with Harrison's wife, Olivia, and the Harrison family has agreed to supply photos, footage and other research materials for the production, the trade paper said. "It would have given George great joy to know that Martin Scorsese has agreed to tell his story," said Olivia Harrison whose husband died of cancer at the age of 58 in 2001. Interviews and early production on the film are set to begin this year but the documentary is expected to take several years to complete. -------- May Pang will put out a new photo book on John Lennon in 2008 It will be comprised of 150 photos of John -- and friends -- in black/white and color.
