Beatles still setting sales records

WASHINGTON, May 5 (UPI) --

The Beatles are the first to earn six of the Recording Industry Association of America's diamond awards for U.S. shipments of 10 million albums.

The distinction was given based on shipments of the 2000 compilation 1 album in April, Billboard.com reported Thursday.

Released in 2000, the Apple/Capitol single-disc set features 27 of the Beatles' U.S. and British No. 1 hits.

However, the foursome's biggest U.S. release is their 1968 self-title album, which was last certified by the RIAA in February 2001 for shipments of 19 million copies.

Led Zeppelin has five diamond-level titles, while Garth Brooks has four and the Eagles three.
