No sooner do I catch up with
neglected work, when more sneaks up on me. I swear, it’s a conspiracy.
I have been making jams all
summer using fruit from our gardens. Just when I thought I might get a break,
wouldn’t you know it, the grapes are ready for picking. You guessed it!! More
jam to process. Our grapes make the best jam and jelly you’ve ever tasted.

Recipes (for Thanksgiving)
Roast Turkey with
Cranberry Honey Glaze
Ingredients
1 cup Ocean Spray Jellied
Cranberry Sauce
1/4 cup honey
1 8 to 12-lbs (3.5 to 4.5 kg)
fresh or frozen turkey, thawed
1 lemon
Glaze:
Combine cranberry sauce and honey
in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat just until sauce is smooth, whisking
frequently. Set aside. Makes about 250.
Turkey:
Be sure turkey is completely
thawed. Remove turkey from original wrapper and remove neck and giblets from
cavities. Rinse turkey thoroughly with cold water; drain and pat dry with paper
towels. Tuck wing tips under back or tie to body. Refasten drumsticks with
metal or plastic clip or band of skin. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
Thinly slice 1 lemon. Loosen the
skin of the turkey towards the front of the breast. Using the handle of a
wooden spoon, gently slide lemon slices under skin on both sides of turkey.
Place turkey breast-side up on
wire rack in shallow roasting pan. Insert meat thermometer into the thickest
part of the inner thigh; do not let thermometer touch bone. Liberally brush
with cranberry honey glaze.
Makes 12 to 16 servings.

Impossibly Easy French Apple Pie
Create tasty apple pie with a crisp, nutty topping the impossibly easy
Bisquick mix way! There's no crust to roll.
Filling
3 cups sliced peeled apples
(large)
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
?
tsp. ground nutmeg
? cup Bisquick mix
? cup granulated sugar
? cup milk
1 tbsp. butter or margarine,
softened
2 eggs
Streusel
? cup Bisquick mix
? cup chopped nuts
? cup packed brown sugar
2 tbsp. firm butter or margarine
Directions
1. Heat oven to 325°F. Grease
9-inch glass pie plate.
2. In medium bowl, mix apples,
cinnamon and nutmeg; place in pie plate.
3. In medium bowl, stir remaining
filling ingredients until well blended. Pour over apple mixture in pie plate.
4. In small bowl, mix all
streusel ingredients until crumbly; sprinkle over filling.
5. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until
knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes. Store in
refrigerator.

Peach Raspberry Slump
What’s a slump? It’s really a
cobbler but it is made on the stovetop like dumplings, not baked. It’s easy.
Even a novice can make a slump. And you don’t have to heat up your kitchen. You
can make them on the grill or even out camping.
What follows is a slump made with
peaches and raspberries. That‘s because the peaches are in season but we could
have used frozen peaches or a choice of other fruits. In fact, blueberries and
pears sound really good.
This slump was made with peaches
and raspberries. You can use fresh or frozen. Try other fruit combinations.
Depending on the fruit, use either cinnamon or nutmeg as your spice.
Ingredients
1 tbsp. butter
3 to 4 cups peeled, sliced
peaches
1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
1 tbsp. lemon juice (fresh or
from concentrate)
2/3 cup granulated sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 cup water or as needed for
the slurry
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 pinch salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tbsp. granulated sugar
2 tbsp. cold butter
1/2 cup milk or as needed for a
soft batter
1/2 tbsp. granulated sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
Directions
1. Use a ten-inch, deep skillet.
Melt the butter in the skillet and turn the skillet to coat the bottom and
sides. Add the lemon juice. Turn the heat off. Mix the granulated sugar,
cornstarch, and nutmeg in a small bowl.
2. Place the peaches and
raspberries in the skillet. Add the dry ingredient mixture. Add the water and
stir until a slurry is formed.
3. Cover and cook over medium
heat until the fruit is partially cooked and becomes softer.
4. While the fruit is cooking,
mix the four, salt, baking powder, and sugar together in a bowl. Cut in the
butter with a pastry knife. Set aside.
5. When the fruit is about
cooked, add the milk to the dry ingredients and stir to form a soft batter
suitable for drop biscuits.
6. With the fruit simmering, drop
spoonfuls of the batter into the fruit about evenly spaced. Cover and set the
heat to gently simmer. Cook for 15 to 20 minutes. The heat from the fruit and
the steam in the pan will cook the biscuits as dumplings do.
7. When cooked, remove from the
heat. Stir the sugar and cinnamon together and sprinkle over the topping. Let
cool until just warm. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.

Ed was in trouble. He forgot his
wedding anniversary. His wife was really pissed!
She told him "Tomorrow
morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in
less than 4 seconds, AND IT BETTER BE THERE".
The next morning Ed got up early
and left for work. When his wife woke up, she looked out the window and sure
enough, there was a small box gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway.
Confused, the wife put on her robe and ran out to the driveway, brought the box
back in the house. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale.
Funeral services for Ed have been
scheduled for Friday.

This was not a phrase that her

about done with his paperwork, he suddenly noticed that his zipper was not
zipped up!
He zipped up and, remembering
what his secretary had told him, finally understood. Then he intentionally went
out to ask for a cup of coffee from his secretary. When he reached her desk, he
said, “When you saw the garage door open, did you see my Jaguar parked in
there?”
The secretary smiled for a moment
and said, “No boss, I didn’t. All I saw was a Mini Wan with two flat tires.”
