Welcome to Mocha Monday at Cappuccino’s Freebie Caf?.

Good morning and HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone!!! Brrr…it’s chilly
out there for tomorrow. Better dress your kids up warm and, for safety’s
sake, please put some reflector tape on their clothing so drivers can see
them.

I went to the Women’s Show today. What fun! Freebies, freebies and
more freebies. If it wasn’t for all the walking to get to the darn place, I
would enjoy it a whole lot more. Worst of all, they jack up the price of
parking 120%. Generally it’s $8.77 (what’s with the .77 cents?) but for
this weekend, it was $20. Gouge us, why don’t you.

And, the Metro Toronto Convention Centre is definitely not disabled
friendly. Whoever designed these buildings was a moron. My apologies
for venting my frustrations. I enjoy a day out now and again but these
great shows are so difficult to get to downtown.

According to Santa’s official countdown clock, there are only 56 days
left ‘til Christmas. Sorry, thought you should know so you can start
shopping while the prices are still decent (heh, heh).

May your hearts be happy, your mailboxes full and the mailman forever
busy. Until next time, Happy Hunting!!!!

Today’s Recipes

Apple Cranberry Cobbler With Spiced Whipped Cream

Ingredients

8 cups apples (peeled, cored and chopped)
10 ounces cranberries (thawed and drained, or fresh if available)

Topping

4 tablespoons salted butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups rolled oats (regular not the quick cooked type)
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. double-acting baking powder
1 tbsp. vanilla extract
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
sea salt to taste
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup 2% milk
1 pint heavy whipping cream
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 375°.
Prepare tart apples such as Granny Smith, Cortland, or your favourite
variety. Thaw and drain frozen cranberries or wash and pat dry fresh
berries. Toss cranberries and apples together into a 10 x 13” glass
baking dish.

In a medium sized mixing bowl, using your hands, blend together: salted
butter, sugar, rolled oats (rub between hands to break into smaller bits),
flour baking powder, spices, vanilla extract and sea salt to resemble a
coarse meal.

Stir in milk and maple syrup, and the topping mixture will become
somewhat sticky. Drop the cobbler mixture by the spoonfuls onto the apple/cranberry compote and pat down slightly. Sprinkle with sugar,
if desired.

Bake for 45- 60 minutes, or until apples are soft and topping has
become golden.

Whip heavy whipping cream with cinnamon, vanilla and sugar until stiff.
Serve atop warm cobbler and melt into the “comfort zone.”

Stir in Organic Valley Milk and maple syrup, and the topping mixture will
become somewhat sticky. Drop the cobbler mixture by the spoonfuls
onto the apple/cranberry compote and pat down slightly. Sprinkle with
sugar, if desired. Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until apples are soft and
topping has become golden.

Whip Organic Valley Heavy Whipping Cream with cinnamon, vanilla,
and sugar until stiff. Serve atop warm cobbler.

Note: Apples and cranberries can be prepared up to 2 days prior
sprinkle with lemon juice), if stored in an air tight container and kept
in the fridge.

Daily Funnies

Employed Cannibals

A large corporation recently hired several cannibals.

"You are all part of our team now", said the HR rep during the welcoming
briefing. "You get all the usual benefits and you can go to the cafeteria for
something to eat, but please don't eat any of our employees".

The cannibals promised they would not.

Four weeks later their boss remarked, "You're all working very hard and
I'm satisfied with your work. However, one of our secretaries has
disappeared. Do any of you know what happened to her?"

The cannibals all shook their heads "No" After the boss had left, the
leader of the cannibals said to the others, "Which one of you idiots
ate the secretary?" A hand rose hesitantly. "You fool!!" the leader
continued. "For four weeks we've been eating managers and no one
noticed anything. But NOOOooo, you had to go and eat someone
who actually does something."

This is priceless.........oh to have the nerve..........maybe it comes
when you are retired!!!

The Fentons

Mr. and Mrs. Fenton are retired. Mrs. Fenton insists that he go with
her to Walmart. He gets bored with all the shopping.

He prefers to get in and get out, but Mrs. Fenton loves to browse.
Here's a letter sent to her from the store.

Dear Mrs. Fenton,

Over the past six months, your husband has been causing quite a
commotion in our store. We cannot tolerate this behavior and may
ban both of you from our stores. We have documented all incidents
on our video surveillance equipment.

All complaints against Mr. Fenton are listed below. Things Mr. Bill
Fenton has done while his spouse was shopping in Walmart:

June 15: Took 24 boxes of condoms and randomly put them in people's
carts when they weren't looking.

July 2: Set all the alarm clocks in Housewares to go off at 5-minute
intervals.

July 7: Made a trail of tomato juice on the floor leading to the restrooms.

July 19: Walked up to an employee and told her in an official tone,
'Code 3' in housewares... and watched what happened.

Aug 4: Went to the Service Desk and asked to put a bag of M&M's
on layaway.

Sept 14: Moved a 'CAUTION - WET FLOOR' sign to a carpeted
area.

Sept 15: Set up a tent in the camping department and told other
shoppers he'd invite them in if they'll bring pillows from the bedding
department.

Sept 23: When a clerk asked if they could help him, he began to cry
and asked, 'Why can't you people just leave me alone?'

Oct 4: Looked right into the security camera; used it as a mirror, and
picked his nose.

Nov 10: While handling guns in the hunting department, asked the clerk
if he knew where to find the antidepressants.

Dec 3: Darted around the store suspiciously, loudly humming the
"Mission Impossible" theme .

Dec 6: In the auto department, practiced his "Madonna look" using
different size funnels.

Dec 18: Hid in a clothing rack and when people browsed through,
yelled "PICK ME!" "PICK ME!"

Dec 21: When an announcement came over the loud speaker, he
assumed the fetal position and screamed "NO! NO! It's those
voices again!!!!"

And last, but not least ....

Dec 23: Went into a fitting room, shut the door waited awhile, then
yelled very loudly, "There is no toilet paper in here!"
