Welcome to Cappuccino’s Freebie Caf?.

Good morning everyone.

Today’s newsletter is short and sweet due to lack of time.
However, I did manage to find a few decent freebies.

My mother is recuperating nicely and with the good
weather here, all she wants to do is go out. Since she
is a prisoner of her own body, I must oblige. Unfortunately,
her gallivanting does not allow me much time on the
computer. Perhaps I’ve spoiled her too much.

Mothers…..you can’t live with them and you can’t
live without them. But we do love them.

May your hearts be happy, your mailboxes full and the
mailman forever busy. Until next week, Happy
Hunting!!!!

Today’s Recipes

Basic Cake

Ingredients

3/4 cup flour1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 cup milk
2 Tbsp. unsalted butter, cut into 2 pieces
11/2 tsp. vanilla extract
3 large eggs, at room temperature
3 large egg yolks, at room temperature
3/4 cup sugar

Directions

1.Preheat oven to 350?F and position a rack in the center.
Grease and flour a 9-inch round baking pan.

2. Combine flour and baking powder in a large bowl; set
aside. In a small saucepan over low heat, warm the milk
and butter. As soon as butter melts, remove from heat and
stir in vanilla; set aside.

3. In a large bowl, beat whole eggs, egg yolks and sugar
with an electric mixer on high speed for 3 minutes, until
mixture triples in volume and turns a very pale yellow.
Reduce speed to medium and beat 3 minutes longer.

4. With mixer on lowest speed, slowly sprinkle 1?4 cup
of flour mixture over the eggs and mix just until no trace
of white remains. Repeat with remaining flour in 2 batches.
The batter will be thick and stiff.

5. Pour half of batter into empty flour bowl. Pour in warm
milk mixture and stir gently to combine. Slowly pour this
mixture back into the batter bowl and quickly but gently
fold the two mixtures together with a rubber spatula. Pour
batter into prepared pan and bake 30 to 40 minutes, until
edges pull away from pan and a toothpick inserted in
the center comes out clean. Let cool on a rack.

Chocolate Covered Brownie Bites

24 to 36 candies

1 pkg brownie mix, any variety
1 can Regular or Low Fat Eagle Brand
1 pkg semi-sweet baking chocolate
1 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp butter
? cup whipping cream (optional)
Toppings: chopped nuts, candy sprinkles, melted
white chocolate or confectioners’ glitter

1. Prepare and bake brownie mix per directions. While
warm, cut the cooked brownie into pieces and roll into
balls. Let cool.

2. Melt chocolate with Eagle Brand. Remove from head
and add vanilla and butter; mix well.

3. Dip brownie balls into chocolate until well coated.
This process is easier if the chocolate is kept warm, or
thinned with cream, if necessary. Place on rack for
excess chocolate to drip off.

4. Decorate with toppings of your choice.

Daily Funnies

This is priceless! RETARDED GRANDPARENTS (this
was actually reported by a teacher)

After Christmas, a teacher asked her young pupils how
they spent their holiday away from school. One child
wrote the following:

We always used to spend the holidays with Grandma
and Grandpa.

They used to live in a big brick house but Grandpa got
retarded and they moved to Arizona. Now they live in
a tin box and have rocks painted green to look like grass.

They ride around on their bicycles and wear nametags
because they don't know who they are anymore.

They go to a building called a wrecked center, but they
must have got it fixed because it is all okay now, and do
exercises there, but they don't do them very well.

There is a swimming pool too, but in it, they all jump up
and down with hats on.

At their gate, there is a doll house with a little old man
sitting in it. He watches all day so nobody can escape.
Sometimes they sneak out! They go cruising in their golf
carts.

Nobody there cooks, they just eat out. And, they eat the
same thing every night ------early birds. Some of the
people can't get out past the man in the doll house. The
ones who do get out, bring food back to the wrecked center
and call it pot luck.

My Grandma says that Grandpa worked all his life to earn
his retardment and says I should work hard so I can be
retarded someday too. When I earn my retardment, I want
to be the man in the doll house. Then I will let people out
so they can visit their grandchildren,

For All Mothers

A woman, renewing her driver's license at the County
Clerk’s office was asked by the woman recorder to state
her occupation. She hesitated, uncertain how to classify
herself. "What I mean is," explained the recorder, "do
you have a job or are you just a...?"

"Of course I have a job," snapped the woman. "I'm a Mom."

"We don't list 'Mom' as an occupation, 'housewife covers it,"
said the recorder emphatically.

I forgot all about her story until one day I found myself in
the same situation, this time at our own Town Hall. The
Clerk was obviously a career woman, poised, efficient and
possessed of a high sounding title like, "Official
Interrogator" or "Town Registrar." "What is your
occupation?" she probed.

What made me say it? I do not know. The words simply
popped out. * "I'm a Research Associate in the field of
Child Development and Human Relations."*

The clerk paused, ball-point pen frozen in midair an
looked up as though she had not heard right. I repeated
the title slowly emphasizing the most significant words.
Then I stared with wonder as my pronouncement was
written in bold, black ink on the official questionnaire.

"Might I ask," said the clerk with new interest, "Just what
you do in your field?"

Coolly, without any trace of fluster in my voice, I heard
myself reply, "I have a continuing program of research,
[what mother doesn't) in the laboratory and in the field,
(normally I would have said indoors and out). I'm working
for my Masters, (the whole darned family) and already have
four credits (all daughters). Of course, the job is one of the
disagree?) and I often work 14 hours a day, (24 is more like
it). But the job is more challenging than most run-of-the-mill
careers and the rewards are more of a satisfaction rather than
just money."

There was an increasing note of respect in the clerk's voice
as she completed the form, stood up and personally ushered
me to the door. As I drove into our driveway, buoyed up by
my glamorous new career, I was greeted by my lab assistants
-- ages 13, 7, and 3. Upstairs I could hear our new
experimental model, (a 6 month old baby) in the child
development program, testing out a new vocal pattern. I felt
I had scored a beat on bureaucracy! And I had gone on the
official records as someone more distinguished and
indispensable to mankind than "just another Mom."

Motherhood! What a glorious career! Especially when
there's a title on the door. Does this make grandmothers
"Senior Research associates in the field of Child
Development and Human Relations" and great grandmothers
Executive Senior Research Associates"? I think so!!! I also
think it makes Aunts "Associate Research Assistants.
