News - Here’s an interesting tidbit for the physically challenged Program Period: January 1, 2006 through December 31, 2006 The AutoAbility program (formerly known as the Physically Challenged Assistance Program) provides a Canadian cash reimbursement of up to $750 to assist physically challenged consumers, and businesses or charitable organizations that provide transportation to physically challenged individuals, in the purchase of adaptive driving or passenger equipment installed on new and unused 2004, 2005 and 2006 models sold at retail. Gradually beat in granulated and icing sugars and then beat in egg and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; gradually stir into butter mixture. Transfer dough to work surface; knead lightly until it forms a ball. Divide dough in half; shape each into disc. Wrap in plastic wrap; refrigerate for at least 1 hour or for up to 2 days. One disc at a time, roll out dough on lightly floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness. Using cookie cutters, cut out shapes and place them on parchment paper lined baking sheets. Bake in centre of preheated 375?F oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until light golden on bottom and edges. Let cool for 3 minutes on baking sheets; transfer to wire racks to cool. Makes 3 dozen cookies. Preparation time: 30 minutes. Refrigeration Icing: Whisk together 3 cups icing sugar with 1/4 cup water for regular piped icing, adding up to 2 tablespoons more water to create paint for background colours. Tint with food colouring as desired. OR Royal Icing: Using electric mixer, beat together 2 tbsp meringue powder with 1/4 cup water. Slowly beat in 2 1/4 cups icing sugar until stiff, about 4 minutes. Separate into bowls and tint with food colouring as desired. Big I Love You Mom/Grandma Cookie - After preparing Gay Lea’s Incredible Sugar Cookie dough, rollout one of the discs on a lightly floured surface. Using a large cookie cutter, a small pie plate or cake pan, cut out a large cookie shape. Bake on parchment paper lined baking sheets as per the recipe. Cool, then pipe your message to Mom or Grandma in icing. Sprinkles and other decorations can be applied to the cookie to create a fun effect.
