Good morning everyone, welcome to Mocha Monday’s edition at
Cappuccino’s Caf?, and a very warm welcome to new subscribers.
Now that the new baby is home and the children (I call them pumpkin,
peanut and munchkin) are back with their mother, I’ve been trying to
catch up with the freebie search.
After two fun-filled days with the great-grand-kids, I have a great
deal of cleaning up to do. Knowing my weakness (I love them to
death), it was two days of hide and seek trying to keep them in site
and out of trouble. Did I mention I was nearsighted and darn near
blind without my glasses! I couldn’t find them in the morning
’cause the baby hid them under the night table! Oh! The joys of
parenthood. I forgot what it was like.
(Sigh) I’m getting too old for this. It’s not easy chasing kids while
pushing a walker. I figure the next time, I’ll use the crook of my
cane to catch the little rascals. Ah!!! Sleep. What a wonderful
concept.

RECIPE OF THE DAY
French Chocolate Hazelnut Cake
A light and creamy glaze adorns this luscious cake. Ground nuts
replace quite a bit of the flour in this sinful confection.
Ingredients:
2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) Nestle Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate
morsels, divided
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 large eggs, separated
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup hazelnut liqueur or milk
2/3 cup ground toasted hazelnuts or almonds
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1 tablespoon water
Directions:
PREHEAT oven to 350° F. Grease and flour 9-inch spring form pan.
MICROWAVE 1 cup morsels in medium, uncovered, microwave-safe
bowl on HIGH (100%) power for 1 minute; STIR. If necessary,
microwave at additional 10- to 15-second intervals, stirring
just until smooth. Cool to room temperature.
BEAT sugar, butter, vanilla extract and salt in large mixer
bowl until creamy. Beat in melted chocolate and egg yolks.
Add flour and liqueur; beat until smooth. Stir in hazelnuts.
Beat egg whites in small mixer bowl until soft peaks form.
Gradually add 2 tablespoons sugar; beat until stiff peaks
form. Fold into chocolate batter. Spread into prepared spring
form pan.
BAKE for 35 to 40 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in
center comes out still slightly moist. Cool in pan for 15 min.
Loosen and remove side of pan. Invert onto wire rack to cool
completely.
HEAT butter, corn syrup and water in small, heavy-duty saucepan
over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture just comes to
a boil. Remove from heat. Add remaining morsels; stir until
smooth. Cool to room temperature.
POUR 3 tablespoons Glaze into small, heavy-duty plastic bag. Pour
remaining Glaze over cake; spread over top and sides. Allow to set
for a few minutes. Cut tiny corner from bag; pipe reserved Glaze over
cake.

DAILY FUNNIES – Communication from Beyond
A Minneapolis couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a
particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel where
they spent their honeymoon 20 years before. Because of their hectic
schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel schedules. So,
the husband left Minneapolis and flew to Florida on Friday, and his
wife was flying down the following day.
The husband checked into the hotel, and unlike years ago, there was
a computer in his room, and he decided to send an email to his wife.
However, he accidentally left out one letter in her email address and,
without noticing his error, sent the email to the wrong address.
Meanwhile...somewhere in Houston... a widow had just returned home
from her husband's funeral. He was a Minister who passed away after
suffering a heart attack. The widow decided to check her email,
expecting messages from relatives and friends. After reading the
first message, she screamed and then fainted.
The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor,
and then glanced up and saw the computer screen which read:
To: My Loving Wife
Date: Friday, October 13, 2005
Subject: I have Arrived!
Dearest Love:
I know you are surprised to hear from me. They have computers here
now, and you are allowed to send email to your loved ones. I have just
arrived and have been checked in. I see that everything has been
prepared for your arrival tomorrow, and look forward to seeing you
then.
Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was.
