Happy Halloween! Welcome to the first Mojo Monthly Newsletter hosted on Zinester.com. I hope you like the new format and intend to stick around. So, is everyone is ready to dress up, eats tons of candy and greet trick or treaters on the 31st?. Last year, Steven and I went to a comic book convention in Las Vegas and attended the masquerade ball on Halloween (we were in the top 10 finalists in our category...I think Steven won third place), so no one local here saw my costume. This year, I'm going to pull it out again: Niobe from Matrix-Reloaded. Steven will be Darth Maul??¦as usual. We're planning on hitting up some costume contests and see what falls down. It should be fun. I??™ll have a link to pictures in next month??™s newsletter. Be safe this holiday season??¦and don??™t overdose on the sweets!
In This Issue:

2. The Romantic Kiss by Larry James - Feature article

I had a book signing at the Third Annual Prescott Book Festival in beautiful Prescott, Arizona on September 18th. The venue, Sharlot Hall Museum, was stunning, but the overall experience was somewhat of a letdown. Due to the fact that I write Young Adult fiction, I was placed in the Children??™s Area. No problem. The problem was lack of foot traffic. In the program, attendees were made aware of the Children??™s Stage, but there were no additional signs at the venue indicating more exhibitors in that area as well. The whole event was spread out on these wonderful grounds, and we were kind of tucked in the back, so no one would think to look back there unless you heard the singing. Yes, singing. And believe me, that got old real quick. (grin)
(Sigh) Oh well, it was something I had to try out at least once. I??™ve never been to Prescott (despite the fact that I??™ve lived in Arizona nearly all my life) and the Weather Goddess had bestowed upon us a day of sun and cool breezes.

I also had my first interview, EVER, live on internet radio. In my previous newsletter, I had sent out a reminder, so hopefully some of you were able to tune in. The Authors-First Show on ArtistFirst World Radio Network gave me world-wide exposure and a chance to cure my phobia of public speaking. I have to admit that I was extremely nervous, even though I conducted the interview by phone--and in my jammies. But my host, Rafael, was wonderful and put me at ease.
I answered questions emailed in from listeners and gave away an autographed copy of Dance Jam Productions . Before I knew it, time was up. Steven said I did a great job, but we'll see once I get the copy. I'm sure I'll have something critical to say about my performance. The hour long segment was live and will be re-broadcast again sometime this month. All in all, it was a great experience and I got the word out about my books. I look forward to doing more interviews in the future. If you're an independent author or artist, I highly recommend ArtistFirst. Look for the link in the Writers and Self-Publishers section.

I have to start off by saying that I found this article while searching for and reading tips on radio interview etiquette, and decided to pay tribute to my first book, "Secrets and Kisses." I think if Skylar read this, she'd be really glad she decided to kiss Kedren (big grin)--Celise
The Romantic Kiss
by Larry James
A kiss has been described as the height of voluptuousness. It has a lovely, luscious and lusty legacy.
Kissing is an act of quiet intimacy and often borders on the erotic. It can be brief and cool or lengthy and hot.
It can be highly romantic, building to a succulent crescendo of emotion and passion or passed off as something that is expected and therefore no big deal.
Two pairs of lips are for kissing. It is an essential element for communicating love and affection in your relationship.
A kiss speaks many different meanings to its lover; when it is missing, many interpretations as to the reasons for its absence surface. These interpretations can become invisible wedges that prevent love from expressing.
When love is present, kissing is an important part of expressing that love. Pay attention to it. Kissing does not always have to be a prelude to making love.
This story from Pravda, the Russian News Service, shows that even in the former Soviet Union, couples are rediscovering what we refer to as "The Mighty Kiss".
In case you thought the kiss was little more than a "romantic handshake", we've decided to let you in on a little Russian research that shows that the kiss is so much more than a mere gateway to romantic expression. Here are just a few of the powerful effects the might kiss will have on you!
Kissing stabilizes cardiovascular activity, decreases high blood pressure, and lowers cholesterol.
Kissing prevents cavities and plaque build-up by stimulating saliva production while preventing gingivitis through the calcium present in saliva.
Kissing stimulates over 30 facial muscles which smoothes out skin and increase blood circulation to the face.
Kissing burns 12 calories per five-second episode and three passionate kisses a day will help you lose one pound!
Kissing prevents the formation of the stress hormone glucocorticoids which causes high blood pressure, muscle weakening and insomnia.
Kissing does its part to vaccinate people from new germs. Saliva contains bacteria, 80% of them are common to all people with 20% unique to each person. By sharing saliva with a partner, you are stimulating your immune system to respond to the different bacteria you are being exposed to. The result is that your immune system creates certain anti-bodies to these new bacteria, which in effect vaccinates you against these germs. This process is called cross-immunotherapy.
Finally, you may not be surprised to know that kissing offers an express analysis of genetic compatibility. While you are kissing, your brain conducts instant chemical analysis of your partner's saliva and issues a "verdict" of your genetic compatibility. Think about it. Don't you know much more about what you like or don't like in a person after one kiss? And kissing is much more fun than taking a relationship inventory!
Oh, did we mention kissing also cures hiccups?
Kiss someone you love today!

Catch the writing spark and try these exercises to get out of a creative slump.
(a)Grab a friend or loved one and take yourself to a restaurant you've never eaten at. After finishing your meal, go home and write a review of this restaurant.
(b) Write about the single-most important thing that has happened in your life to-date. Either fictionalize it in short story format, or write it is a self-help guide for others going through the same situation.
(c) What's your favorite place you've ever visited. Spend ten minutes trying to describe the setting of this location.
(d) Write a short story about a fortune teller who must prove to the police that she is legitimate. What does she do?
(e) Imagine entering a strange town at midnight, a heavy fog cover reducing visibility to just a few feet. Why is your character coming to this town, and what does he/she believe the fog is hiding.

WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT COULDN'T HAPPEN TO YOU
Subject: Identity theft.........please read.
The last calendar quarter is the shopping season. This is a message to help you keep your guard up.
Keep a watch out for people standing near you at retail stores, restaurants, grocery stores, etc., who have cell phones in hand. With the new camera cell phones, they can take pictures of your credit/check/ATM card, which gives them your name, number, and expiration date. Identification theft is one of the fastest-growing scams today, and this is just another example of the means that are being used. So...be aware of your surroundings.
