When I
was young, I was taught about the Anti-Christ. I learned
that he would represent himself as being God and would work
miracles. Many would follow him. I questioned how I could
tell if it was really the Anti-Christ or not. It seemed to
me that if a person followed someone he believed to be God
and was wrong, that the error could not be held against
him. Now I know better. Millions ? even billions will be
deceived, but it will be easy to see the lie.
The
prophets tell us that a leader will arise and promise peace
to the world. He will sign a treaty with Israel, which he
will break half way through the tribulation.
Matthew
24:15 ?Therefore when you see the ?abomination of
desolation,? spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in
the holy place? Jesus is talking about a passage in Daniel
where he says ?Then he (Anti-Christ) shall confirm a
covenant with many for one week (meaning 7 years); but in
the middle of the week he shall bring an end to sacrifice
and offering. An on the wing of abominations shall be one
who makes desolate. (Daniel 9:27) Then, ?and forces shall
be mustered by him, and they shall defile the sanctuary
fortress; then they shall take away the daily sacrifices and
place there the abomination of desolation? (Daniel 11:31)
In
other words, the Anti-Christ will enter into an agreement
with Israel. A new temple will be built in Jerusalem and
the Anti-Christ will proclaim himself to be God in the new
temple. Paul says it like this: ?Let no one deceive you by
any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling
away comes firs, and he main of sin (Anti-Christ) is
revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts
himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped,
so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself
that he is God.? 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4)
Therefore, when we see a new temple being built in Jerusalem
and a man signs a treaty with Israel, then announces that he
is God ? he isn?t! If you see this taking place and are yet
undecided about whom to follow ? here?s your #1 clue.
People
of the Jewish faith do not believe that Jesus was the
Messiah. They still await His coming. In addition, Arabs
believe that a ?Deliverer? will soon appear. Since the
Anti-Christ is said to first appear resembling a glorious
being and will claim to be the ?Savior of the world,? it?s
easy to see that the appearance of the Anti-Christ in
Eastern Europe makes sense. It would be easy to deceive a
huge number of people who are not Christians. Most bible
scholars seem to agree that the Anti-Christ will emerge from
Europe. He will perform many great wonders and miracles,
but he will not be the Christ.
