The bible gives us a number of clues as to when Jesus will
return. The prophets wrote of these signs so we would be
able to prepare ourselves and to allow us time to reach out
to those who have not accepted Jesus as their savior.
I believe the first of these signs was Israel being
reclaimed by the Jews. This followed the end of WWII by 3
years in 1948. Since then there have been other signs such
as earthquakes in several parts of the world. The
earthquakes have been coming closer together and have been
more violent than in past history. Of course there have
been severe earthquakes in the past. But I think you will
agree that they have happened more frequently in more parts
of the world and overall have been more violent than in our
history prior to 1948.
We have also seen volcanic eruptions more often and of a
greater magnitude than in the past. Consider Mt St.
Helens. Ash covered homes, cars, trees ? everything ? for
hundreds of miles from the site. The sun was darkened for
many, and the Book of Revelation talks about 1/3 of the
light of day will be taken from us. If Mt. St. Helens could
darken the sky for many of us, imagine the result of
numerous volcanoes erupting around the world all at once.
Clearly, a third of the sun?s light COULD be blotted out.
The bible also tells us to beware of ?wars and rumors of
war?. It also tells us of a ?different kind of war? that
will be started between two countries and then joined by
additional countries. Perhaps the Viet Nam war or the war
in the Middle East was the ?different kind of war? the
prophets spoke of.
Monday: I will list the ?Messianic Signs? and we will begin
to discuss them in more detail.
