It is claimed that Jesus Christ did not have a human
father. It is claimed that His mother was a virgin
when she conceived Him. Is there any historical
evidence to support this claim? As a matter of
fact, there is! If Mary had cheated on her fiance,
this would have been a serious violation of Jewish law.
The priest would have been the very first one to see to
it that she was punished or publically reprimanded.
The very last place Mary would have run for refuge would
have been to the house of the priest Zechariah!
Yet, where did she go? That’s right! She
went to the house of Zechariah the priest. That
would be like a bank robber going to the police station!
Why would she do that? The answer is simple.
The story of her virgin conception was in fact the
truth!
Another piece of evidence is the rather curious
behavior of Joseph. Why would he take her as his
wife? He would have endured years of ridicule.
He would have endured years of living with a woman he
could never trust. Why did he take her?
Because her story was true.
During His lifetime, Jesus exhibited powers and
abilities far beyond those of mortal men. Even His
enemies admitted that much! This is yet another
indicator that He most certainly did not have a human
father.
In their gospels, Mark and John didn’t mention the
virgin birth. Why? It was a fact so well
established that they didn’t feel it even necessary.
Finally, why did Jesus go to the cross?
Officially, the Romans accused Him of treason for
claiming to be a king. Unofficially though, the
Jewish leadership wanted Him dead. Why?
Because they accused Him of blasphemy. Why?
Because Jesus claimed to be the very Son of God.
So, Jesus went to the cross because of who He thought
His Father was. Now then, what could His mother of
done. Well, she could have saved her Son from this
horrible fate! All she had to do was to admit the
sinful truth! All she had to do was admit that He
had a human father after all. All of the claims of
Jesus being the Son of God would have come crashing
down! He would have been humiliated, but He would
have been saved from crucifixion! So, how could
Mary stand by and let this happen to her own Son!
Was she a monster? Only one thing could have
overcome her maternal instinct to save her Son!
The truth! She had to remain silent because she
really did know who His Father was!
