My stepfather is hovering on the edge
of eternity. His health is failing and an operation was
deemed too dangerous because his heart is 80 percent gone.
This situation made me reflect upon the upper room and the
Last Supper.
There were at least 13 people in the
upper room, Jesus and his 12 disciples. Of the 13 only two
were aware of the coming events, Jesus and Judas. Jesus
knew because of his spiritual awareness and Judas was aware
because of the decision he had made. So Jesus was talking
to his friends, saying good byes and leaving his thoughts.
None of the other 11 disciples really understood Christ was
saying goodbye for now. I wonder if we are prepared as
Christ was? The Romans would, upon parting, communicate
their feelings because the paths we take may never be trod
again. My message to all would be—be prepared for
eternity. Know your maker and make your commitment before
it is too late.
At church yesterday, I gave this
message about the Last Supper, my stepfather, and his
situation. My dad and I have left no Possible questions
unanswered. He is ready for the next step. I am much
younger but have made the same commitment. God bless you
all!
