Dear Friend,
I hope you are doing well and resting in the goodness of the
Lord. I have been thinking about the peace and rest that
each believer should possess through the finished work of
the Lord Jesus Christ. There are many Bible believing
Christians around the world who are stressed out and worried
about the future. They are not enjoying this present time
and instead of taking life easy, they are caught in the
whirlwind of busyness that the enemy has fooled the world
with. I hope today's message on taking life easy and
enjoying the simple act of laughter more often encourages
and challenges your heart to not fall for the enemy's lies
of worry and fear, but rather show you the Peace and Joy
that comes in resting in the Lord.
Taking life easy is easier said than done. There are many
times when we tell ourselves to take it easy, but hours or
days later we find ourselves in the same predicament of
worry and stress. We need to recognize that these are the
tools of the devil which are very useful in pulling God's
children off the track of Peace, Joy, Happiness and
Contentment. We need to renew our mind with the Word of God
and change into the people that God has predestined us to
be. Concerning problems, Jesus declares, ???In the world you
will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome
the world.??? The Lord wants you to be cheerful because He
has won your peace on the cross of Calvary. Jesus tells us
to not worry because He has already been Victorious in our
stead. We need to rest in His finished work and know that
peace belongs to us. (Romans 12:2) (John 16:33) (John
10:10)
When we say no to the enemy and say yes to the Peace and Joy
of the Lord, we are not only winning in the spiritual realm,
but we are also winning in this physical realm where it
concerns the health of our body. The Bible declares in
Proverbs 17:23 "A merry heart does good, like medicine, But
a broken spirit dries the bones." I know many people who
have no physical problems, but because of their constant
worry and stress, they have developed over time life
changing ailments such as arthritis, ulcers, heart problems
and other debilitating diseases. In choosing worry over
rest, they have unknowingly suffered problems that were
otherwise preventable.
Many of us have heard of how laughter and cheerfulness helps
and strengthens our body, so when scientists decided to test
this theory, they discovered it was true. Laughing is found
to lower blood pressure, reduce stress hormones, increase
muscle flexion, and boost immune function by raising levels
of infection-fighting T-cells, disease-fighting proteins
called Gamma-interferon and B-cells, which produce
disease-destroying antibodies. Laughter also triggers the
release of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers, and
produces a general sense of well-being. We receive so much
when we have a merry heart and an easygoing lifestyle and
yet many of us still refuse such well-being and choose
rather to keep worry and anxiety alive in our life.
God in His infinite wisdom knows that worry, fear, stress
and depression are all devices that hurt our bodies, weaken
our immune system and in many cases pull us down
spiritually. Jesus told us to be of good cheer, the
proverbs tell us to have a merry heart and God says if He is
for you, who can be against you? I encourage you to take
Gods prescription of laughter and cheerfulness if your body
needs strengthening or if you're feeling down because of
life's trials. Make up your mind to rest in the Lord. When
thoughts of worry and anxiety try to creep up, be strong and
resist the temptation to worry with all your might. (Matthew
6:27-34) (Romans 8:31-32)
I really do hope you take this message to heart because it
can change your life. Take life easy and see the good in
yourself and in others. Don't allow yourself to get
stressed out, but rather have an easygoing attitude. Remind
yourself that worry will never accomplish anything except to
hurt your body, your mind and your spirit. I heard a great
quote that said: ???Worrying is like rocking in a rocking
chair; it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you
anywhere.??? Keep that in mind the next time you??™re tempted
to worry.
