Prayer at it's best Some ten years ago, my husband left me to spend eternity with Jesus Christ. The greatest consolation to me was the fact that I knew this was his future abode. The dreaded big 'C' (cancer)took him even though he took all the necessary treatments. He spent a lot of times in and out of the hospital. I was with him as much as possible as our home was not in the same city as the hospital. His attitude was fantastic since he had become so close to our Lord. At one point, he was unable to eat and so the medical staff had plans to implant a feeding tube to keep his nutrition going. The procedure was all set up to go. Before I tell you what happened next, I will have to tell you that I have a niece who is nothing short of a Saint and her prayers and answers are so awesome. After the procedure for my husband had been planned, she came to visit him and pray with him. She prayed that he would not need the feeding tube. Amazingly, the medical group came back in shortly after her visit with the news that they had decided to send him home with high caloric drinks in hopes that he would eventually start eating. You may find it hard to believe but he did go home with the drink suggested and eventually he did regain his appetite. He was in a short time remission but this gave us time to plan and to learn to accept his leaving me. It was very difficult but I do know that with the promise that our God has given us that we two can meet, again, one day in God's heaven. His favorite Bible verses: "Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you, I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and Prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." John 14: 1-3 (KJV) Norma Liles 8-28-03 hoopla214@yahoo.com |
