HEHE THANK YOU!!!! Here's another cookie recipe for you: Yultide Kisses Makes 5 dozen Oven temperature: 275 F Time: 15 to 20 minutes 3 egg whites 1/8 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar 2 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 cups broken pecan pieces 1. Beat egg whites until foamy, sprinkle with salt and cream of tartar and continue beating until the egg whites form peaks when the beater is pulled out. 2. Add sugar gradually, beating meanwhile. Add vanilla and mix well. Fold in nuts. 3. Drop by spoonfuls on a lightly greased baking sheet. 4. Store in airtight containers. This is an old recipe from the Milwaukee, Wisconsin Gas Company from the 1960's. ~~ **Swamp Recipe Of The Day** ~From Barb!!~ SWAMPY SOUP This is one of the only pea soup recipes I like.... I have tried many and always come back to this one (I don't like peas but I love this!!) I have re-named it "SWAMPY SOUP" For my favorite place FREEBIE SWAMP! It is my mom's recipe but I have altered a lot of it thru the years for my families taste buds. INGREDIENTS: 1 cup chopped onion 4 carrots chopped 2 potatoes chopped up 1 teaspoon vegetable oil 1 pound dried split peas 1 ham bone or 2 and a half cups of leftover chopped up ham. 2 whole bay leaves salt and pepper to taste DIRECTIONS: In a medium pot, saute onions in oil or bacon grease. Remove from heat and add split peas, ham bone or chopped ham and Bay leaves. Add enough water to cover ingredients, and season with salt and pepper. Cover, and cook for 30 minutes then add potatoes and carrots and continue cooking until there are no peas left, just a green liquid with chunks of potatoes, carrots and ham usually about 2 hours. While it is cooking, check to see if water has evaporated. You may need to add more water as the soup continues to cook. ( I always have to add at least 1-2 cups of water as it is cooking) Once the soup is a green liquid remove from heat, and let stand so it will thicken. Once thickened you may need to heat through to serve. Remember to remove the Bay leaves! I serve this with either Sally Lunny home made bread from my bread machine or Garlic Toast from the oven.
