I am so so excited! OK , I told you guys I was looking for a pet for Christmas for my 15 Year old...well today, I went to the petstore, was planning seriously on getting a bunny..although Brenda totally soured me on the idea LOL. Anyhoo, this place was really cool it had Chinchillas, rabbits, ferrets, everybird under the sun, snakes(ew!!) I saw those 2 fish from finding Nemo even! Too cute! They had some cats, and lots of exotic animals. Then I saw it! HEHE he was so so tiny and he won't even be ready til January but I could not resist em! Yes, I am in love with a sugar glider! LOL This lady that owns the pet store hand raises them, they are all so tame and I guess their gestation time is very long and they only have like 1~2 babies. So thats why they are more expensive. But they are so loving ! They had these little pouches you can keep them in, and she is letting me make a few payments to pay for him (Thank Goodness) So I went ahead & put the deposit down. He was the only baby so it was fate I tell ya, fate!! LOL And I have already decided if Mandy does not want ...i KNOW she will absolutely love em, but if not he will be mine! They live from 10~15 years if they are well cared for.I have to take one of my daughters T~shirts or something up there for him to have in his cage, so he can start getting adapted to her scent. We just inherited a bunch of money from a relative & will be in Oklahoma so we can finally get our things out of storage after 2 years to bring up here to So. Dakota That will be our Christmas present to ourselves. After several years of being on SSI as our sole income, it is going to be a pleasure to buy a newer car, and travel again farther than the grocery store. Now, to my reason to mail you. I went to the post office on Saturday ( we don't have home delivery here) and there was a box full of weenie toys. I got 9 more. That's a total of 21 of them now & we only won " 2" of them according to the info on the Oscar Meyer site. I'm not complaining, they are adorable. I am going to take a bunch of them down to the women's shelter so they can hand them out to the kids for Christmas. That will make them and me happy at Christmas. If it had not been for your site & the reminders you kept putting up I would not have gone there. Look what happens when I have a "pushy" friend. Thank you so much for my being able to make some children happy. I am buying another 30 toys to go along with the weenie toys to help make sure the kids have a nice Santa's visit. Julie~ ~~ Here's a Christmas Tip for you! #*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*#*# Tips for Christmas candles Your Christmas candles will last longer and burn longer if you put them in the fridge at least an hour before lighting them. **Swamp Recipe Of The Day** Today I am sharing the candy recipes that were sent to me yesterday! YUM!! Thanks Shannon! Julie, here's a recipe for peanut clusters and chocolate covered pretzels. Shannon :) Peanut Clusters (makes 2 dozen) Ingredients 1 cup sugar 1/3 evaporated milk 1/4 cup butter 1/4 cup peanut butter 1/2 teaspoon vanilla 2 cups quick cooking oats 1/2 cup Spanish peanuts (can substitute regular peanuts) 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips Directions Line cookie sheet with waxed paper. Mix sugar, milk, and butter in 2 quart microwavable bowl. Microwave uncovered on high for 2 to 3 minutes or until boiling. Stir peanuts and vanilla until blended. Stir in remaining ingredients. Drop by tablespoons onto cookie sheet. Refrigerate about 30 minutes or until firm. Chocolate Covered Pretzels 1(1 pound) bag of pretzels 1 teaspoon of vegetable shortening or 1 tablespoon heavy cream, plus more if needed 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips 1. Melt chocolate and vegetable shortening in a double boiler over low heat. Stir constantly until JUST melted. Add more shortening, a teaspoon at a time if the chocolate is too thick; it should pour a little faster than maple syrup. When it reaches the right consistency, remove from heat. 2. Dip pretzels one at a time quickly to coat while mixture is still very warm. If mixture starts to harden, stir over a double boiler for about 30 seconds to a 1 minute until melted. Place pretzels on wax paper to set and cool. Immediately dress them up with sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, etc. 3. Let harden in a cool place. The refrigerator speeds the process. Take them out as soon as the chocolate is hard. Store in as cool place or else they will soften. They will keep for about 3 weeks at room temperature if well wrapped. NOTE: Chocolate will not set well if heated too hot or is too thick. To test, put a thin smear of chocolate on a paper plate or wax paper and refrigerate.
