I had promised my son we would go to this event in town called "Breakfast with Lovey Bear". (Large man in ridiculous pink bear costume). My son was about 4 at the time. We got dressed, ran out to the car 'cause we were running late, as usual, and realized I had no keys. At all. Not to anything. Went over to the neighbor's to call my husband, who was at work. 70 miles away. In another town. She took pity on my bawling unconsolable son and drove us (in her pajamas, no less) to the event. My poor husband had to drive all the way home and then back. Did I learn my lesson? NO. Locked us all out of the house that Mother's Day. Same neighbor's husband had to bring his tools over and he and my husband had to DRILL into our house through the metal frame around the sliding doors to the walk-out. I kept reminding them both that it was Mother's Day and they couldn't be mean to me. Needless to say, I am always able to get in through the garage now. Vic LOL Vic! You guys are seriously making not feel like such a dope! hehe <HUGS> **Swamp Recipe Of The Day** (From A Member Of Our Message Board!) ~Apple Pie Cooked In A Brown Paper Bag~ This is the perfect pie for those of us that can NOT make a traditional pie crust! 350 degrees 1 hour In a pie pan mix: CRUST 1 1/2 c flour 1 tsp salt 1 1/2 tsp sugar Mix then add 2/3 c butter (can use oil, marg. but butter works best) 3 T milk Mix with fork then press to pan to make pastry FILLING: in a bowl 6-7 apples, peeled, cored, sliced 2 T four 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1 tsp cinnamon Mix and put into pie TOPPING: 1/2 c flour 1/2 c sugar 1/2 c BUTTER (do not substitute) cut with a pastry cutter or two butter knives until crumbly sprinkle on top of pie. CAREFULLY PLACE PIE INTO BROWN GROCERY PAPER BAG STAPLE SHUT (THE BAG WILL NOT BURN BECAUSE THE OVEN IS NOT HOT ENOUGH) Place in oven (try to make sure the top of the bag is not touching the pie) cook at 350 for 55 minutes Carefully (watch out for the steam) rip bag open so you can get at the pie Place pie back in oven for about 5 minutes to brown.
