Subject: Corporate Crimefighters of America - Happy Thanksgiving! - November27, 2003

I ate early, so as usual there isn't much to do on Thanksgiving but watch TV or use the computer and I'm not a TV guy ;')  I thought I would forego the usual insurance news, since big news may be coming, to just wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I mean that in more than a perfunctory manner.

Every newspaper has a column of what to be thankful for, so I won't do that one. Besides, those who are in trouble may think, "Big Deal." Although perhaps you should be thankful that you are around to read this at all ;') But it is precisely those who are troubled who should put that aside now and then, and this day is as good as any. Because what I have been fighting these many years is part of a larger thing.

There are still people on this earth, alas, who want power over others. Most of them come from corporations or the government. Their plan is to take what we have so that they can have more than they need. Their hirelings are what plague us daily, in whatever guise, but on some days we should let them not plague us at all. And this is one.

You see, the way others gain power over us is simple. Through fear or guilt. Guilt over what happened yesterday or fear of what will happen tomorrow. The way to shrug their bonds is to just enjoy the day, the moment, a good meal, a rest from toil or thought, putting away the past and the future and just realizing that this moment is all you will ever have. If you can extend that moment and extend those days, their power over us diminishes, our vision becomes clear, and we begin to see ways to gain back our own power from the illusionists who have tried to take it.

So Happy Thanksgiving. Sink into the day, sink into the moment. Just be yourself. Because that is all you ever are and even all that the supposedly powerful ever are. That simple self is all that exists for you or anybody else, and all that is finally counted in heaven or on the earth. Everything else is incidental, illusory, and of no moment.

In all sincerity, since it is a bit overused but still a good thing to say, Have a good day ;')

And be yourself.

Yours,
