Dr, G Laxman, President of Andhra Predesh Civil
Liberties Committee (APCLC) has been kidnapped by
Andhra Pradesh Police at 9.15 PM local time
on 6th November, 2004 from nearby his house in
the Osmania University campus in Hyderabad. The
police in the disguise of a  private armed gang
calling themselves Thirumala Tigers announced an
hour later that they kidnapped Dr. Laxman pressing
for the release of Siraj, a renede who was presented
before the press a day before by the CPI (ML)
Peoples War.

The police cowed down Siraj for conducting covert
operations to kill the leaders of Peoples War and he
was used as an instrument of a covert operation about
a month ago to kill a senior leader of people??™s war,
Obulesu in Nalgonda District in the name of an
encounter killing. The police in the guise of a private
armed group issued a threat to kill Dr.
Laxman if Siraj is not released by the Peoples War.

Dr. Laxman is a reader in Osmania University and
has been working in the civil berties organisation for
the last 20 years.

He hails from a dalit family from a backward district
called Mahaboobnagar in Andhra Predesh. He is a
well-known teacher in Osmania University and
has no relations Peoples War. As an enlightened
teacher of a University he has been working for the
cause of human rights in a state where the human
rights violations are taking place in most dastardly
way every day.

Please kindly send protests and demand to release
Dr Laxman to the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh,
Chandrababu Naidu whose Government is
notorious for lynching the well-Known leaders of
the civil liberties and human rights organisations in
the past 8 years. There is an immediate threat to the
life of Dr. Laxman. In the past few years Purushotham
and Azam Ali of APCLC were killed most brutally by
the same police forces in with similar names of private
armed groups.

Save the life of Dr. G Laxman!
