Friends, If Surat like city can be drowned and people of Surat can be ignored by the Govt. and it’s machinery then you can just imagine how the people of Dholka, Kheda, Central Gujarat, North Gujarat can be ignored. Some places faced floods for 6 to 7 consecutive times. The flood affected people are left to themselves isolated from rest the people of the state. They are left isolated because the Flood 2006 is treated as purely local calamity. The killer earthquake which received global response was reduced to be local and the people of the earthquake were left to themselves. From the very beginning the Flood 2006 is treated as inevitable The dams were allowed to overflow and people were warned in the dead nights by SMS about the release of excess water from the dams . Except the announcements no arrangements were made to shift the people to the safer places. The villages are just ignored. The people of the state are not properly informed about the seriousness of the destruction. The humanitarian feeling which is the one of the basic creeds of the people of Gujarat is crucified. In fact they people are the victim of disinformation such that the campaign for the Vibrant Gujarat, Tourism, Navrarti festivals go ahead without any moral dilemma... The people of the flood affected people cannot fight for their rights without the help of the general support of the people of the whole state. The people of Gujarat have to come together to stand by the side of the flood affected people and raise voices unitedly. The flood has left a mark which is very difficult to heal-up. True to the revolutionary morality and ethics the S. U. C. I. has been trying to stand by side of the people to save the dignity of the victims. Apart from doing general relief and medical relief collecting money from the people from the street we have been trying to raise voice for the victims. With our limited resources S. U. C. I. organises video shows and hold exhibitions all over the state to inform the people about the real situation such that we all can act and put pressure on the Govt This Video show and the Exhibition is an attempt in that direction only.
