Islam means Peace
by
Dr. Javed Jamil

Islam does not just promote peace; Islam is peace itself

We are denizens of a world where peace is nothing more than a pigeon trying to survive in a stormy wind. He has every reason to celebrate. Individually, there may be many God-fearing people in the world; but the collective system hardly cares for God and his plan for this world. “ Islam means Peace” is aimed at reminding the world the true meaning of peace, unveiling before them the designs of the proponents of the system that rules them and making them aware of the System that must rule. It is an endeavour to turn the wind of chaos into a gentle breeze of peace pigeon loves to fly in. Peace is discussed not in piecemeal but in totality. Not only the indicators of the prevailing chaos have been explored, the agenda for a purer, healthier and more peaceful world has also been presented.

The agenda for the future must be to establish Natural Word Order rather than new World Order …. New World Order is unstable by its very meaning; what is new now, will become old tomorrow. The world of New World Order is therefore rapidly developing into nothing but a Fireball of chaos. We are living in a world where, thanks to the designs of merchants, immorality reigns.. Where, piety is Ridiculed and impudence glorified. Where, prosperity is considered to be the synonym of peace, education that of knowledge and entertainment that of happiness….Where it is easier to be bad than good…. Where, those talking of Righteousness in life are condemned as “bloody moralists”… Where the biggest Virtue is to openly indulge in the biggest sin; and the biggest sin is to try to exhibit virtuousness.

Abdullah Lauds Women’s Role in Society
Arab News

JEDDAH, 3 December 2006 — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques
King Abdullah yesterday commended Saudi women for their
active participation in the Kingdom’s development.

“Saudi women are playing a great role,” said Abdullah.
“They make fruitful contributions toward the country’s
comprehensive progress in various sectors,” he added.

Abdullah made this comment while receiving women
participants of the Sixth National Dialogue Forum at his
palace in Riyadh separately.

“During their meeting with the king, the women voiced their
views on the forum’s topic and other issues concerning
them. They thanked the king for his efforts to empower
women and strengthen their role in society,” the Saudi
Press Agency said.

Earlier while speaking to both men and women participants,
the king urged them to provide the government with
necessary advice and guidance. “Those who do not work will
not make any mistakes. Those who work will make mistakes,
but one should try to avoid such mistakes,” the king said
about government officials.

He praised Saudis for their commitment to the nation,
religion and work.

Saleh Al-Hosain, president of the forum, said Islam
promotes peaceful coexistence of different communities,
allowing others to protect their values and cultural
identity. Some 120 verses of the Qur’an condemn
bloodletting, all types of wars and subversive activities.
“It has allowed only one type of war that is morally
justified, stands for justice and considers human values.
It is jihad,” he explained.

Al-Hosain presented a copy of the forum’s recommendations
to the king and Crown Prince Sultan.

In her speech, Laila bint Abdul Kareem Al-Juhaiman,
associate professor at King Saud University, said the
three-day forum in Sakaka was successful in drafting a
futuristic vision of education in the Kingdom. She praised
Abdullah’s efforts to promote the Kingdom’s educational
standard by opening new universities and colleges across
the country.

Subject: Newborn sold off for Rs 700 in Silchar, Assam

Newborn sold off for Rs 700 in Silchar, Assam
Sunday, 03 December , 2006,

Silchar: Extreme poverty drove a cart-puller in Assam's Barak Valley to sell his newborn daughter for Rs 700 barely three days after she was born. According to an inquiry committee's report, Kalpana Das, the wife of cart-puller Niranjan Das of Bajimara village in Hailakandi district, was admitted to state-run Silchar Medical College Hospital's obstetrics department on November 24, 2006 and gave birth to a daughter the next day. The report, quoting Das, said he discussed his financial problem with relatives of another woman in the same ward, and gave away his newborn to them for Rs 700 without informing the hospital authorities on November 28, 2006. Das claimed he gave the baby of his own accord after consulting his wife and that the people who took his baby could not be traced. The woman whose relatives bought the baby had also been discharged from the hospital, he said. Following media reports that a child trafficking racket was in operation at the hospital, the medical college principal constituted an inquiry commission to go into the incident. The inquiry stated that Das was a below poverty line (BPL) card holder and there was no question of him making a payment of Rs 1,200 for the delivery of his child. Border Areas Development Minister Gautam Roy, who is also chairman of the hospital's governing body, visited the institution to take stock of the situation. Questions were raised as to how the baby was taken away from the ward in the presence of nurses and doctors.
