Dear Katyalji,

This is ritual.  Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas follows the
Indian Science.  Chinese too made room for Chinese
investors by investing in R&D through the Spark
Programme.  They made R&D investment in iScience not
additionally but by extracting it from the existing
eScience.  They invested these R&D funds in setting up
technological nurseries to clear hurdles.  They did
not use the term technological nursery but terms are
there only to convey messages.

This is why I have suggested that NRIs should invest
in R&D first.  Let us make room for this action
through Dhumakot/Sangliya experiment in the state of
Uttarakhand.

Dear Katyalji,

I have made a case for iScience.  It is different from
eScience.  It has relation with eScience.  This
relation is of dialectical reciprocacy.

iScience was suggested by the Royal Society but was
ignored by the entire British Empire.  First
experiment came from the Soviet Union.  The next step
came from USA.  This new initiative was moved by
scientist Vannevar Bush who is also regarded as the
initiator of Internet.

Nehru tried to work on the work on the endless
frontier of science.  But his apparatus was the old
British apparatus.  Political views, traditional views
etc do not matter.  It is iScience that has to
overcome difficulties faced in each country.

Yes. There's nothing in Bible or Testaments that directs to kill those with
'other' faith'.Even Islamic teachings speak out volumes on peace and non
violence. Buddhism also became universally acceptable religion because of it's
advice to love non violence. Hinduism as a melted cult of various religions and
paths does have a share for non conflict and mutual social and communal
relations. So is the case with other religions and faith the world over.
And still we find various paranormals belonging to all these religions have
believed in killing 'the other faith' .They have a common adopted  theory of
their own; They hate to love and love to hate .They can't be called religious
minds the way we know about Jesus, Md.Paigamber , Buddha, Mahaveer right down up
to Gandhi , Martin Luther King , Khan Abdul Gafar Khan  among otherespectable
human souls who gave their lives to build peace on earth and mind .
The so called and much mystified theory of  clash of civilisations phrased by US
imperialists has lost it's glare but the hate it has brought out is taking it's
tolls all over. Both  Super Christians and Ultra super Islamists have been
outstreching their killer instinct against each other starting with much more
harmful weaponary than the nuke bombs ..the hate campaign .it's now in full
swing soon after the hanging of Saddam Hussain.
And in a otherwise unknown for her mutual social set up called India  has
evolved and nourished a No.of para normal groups within, to rehearse what's
going on between Western and Central Asian nations .They want to be in side with
Europeans/westerns and glorify attacks and killings of Islamists by Christians
at global level and reciprocate it all through by taking up hate campaigns again
Indian Muslims followed by indian Christians.
History shows Indian soil showed the path of Love and peace and mutual exchange
to the world around.
A New History is being created by the world around now to show the Indian soil
the exhibits of hate, scorn and  killings .
The Christians are killing Muslims for oil
The westerners are luring the Hindus for soil
  The Hindus are buying oil
  and selling soil ..
The upper Hindus need oil  for their autos
and lower hindus  need coins to buy
what the mncs are selling on Indian soil.
Peace be with us all  .

Subject: Functions of the media - N Ram

Functions of the  media

In his welcome address, Editor-in-Chief of The Hindu N. Ram said the newspaper was proud to present the lecture, as part of its commitment to the core values of serious, quality journalism — truth-telling, freedom and independence, justice, humaneness, and contributing to the social good. Serious, quality news media also performed the functions or roles that were invaluable and indispensable to a democracy that sought, against the odds, to be a just society. "These are the credible-informational, the critical-`adversarial'-investigative, the educational, and the agenda-building functions," he said. Noting that influential sections of the mainstream media in India as much as elsewhere seemed to be moving away from these core values and functions, Mr. Ram said journalism in India seemed to be on the cusp of a transformation that was hard to comprehend by those caught up in it. "The key question that needs asking now more than ever before is: do our news media contribute, in substantial measure, to empowering ordinary people — or are they interested mainly in empowering and enriching themselves? We believe that promoting these values and performing these functions of serious, quality journalism necessarily involves a commitment to promoting informed public discussion of issues that matter."

  B.S. Satish Kumar

Bangalore: Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen on Saturday obliquely defended
the West Bengal Government decision to give agricultural land to Tata
Motors for setting up a car plant in Singur.

He told The Hindu on the sidelines of a lecture that he delivered
here on `Environment and Poverty - Two Worlds or One' that "the
benefits will be more," with the implementation of such projects. He
termed the opposition to handing over agricultural land for the
  project "politically motivated."

Resorting to hunger strike was not the way of dealing with economic
development, he said. "I am not surprised by this. They are in the
Opposition and they have to do this." He said agricultural land
adjoining Kolkata were bound to shrink due to expansion of the city.
