New Delhi, March 22: A three-judge bench comprising
Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan and Justices G.P.
Mathur and R.V. Raveendran dismissed the petition
filed by Aslam Bhure seeking review of the apex
court's Nov 29, 2002 judgment.
Aslam Bhure also challenged Uttar Pradesh government's
revised notification for trial of BJP leader L.K.
Advani and seven others in the `Babri Masjid
demolition case in a Rae Bareli court, instead of the
Lucknow court. But the apex court upheld the legality
of the state government's notification.

Fresh violence at Nandigram

CPI (M) office attacked with bombs and set ablaze
Shops ransacked in Tekhali Bazaar area
Two roads dug up on Tuesday night

KOLKATA : Violence erupted again in Nandigram, West Bengal, on Wednesday, with activists of the Trinamool Congress-led Bhoomi Ucched Pratirodh Committee allegedly attacking an office of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) with bombs and burning it. Troublemakers ransacked some shops in the Tekhali Bazaar area. The BUPC has been spearheading the movement against setting up an industry in Nandigram. There were also reports of at least two roads being dug up on Tuesday night in another part of Nandigram by persons suspected to belong to the BUPC.

Police camps shifted

Large parts of Nandigram remain inaccessible to the police, even as two police camps were shifted to adjoining locations as part of a phased withdrawal.

Propaganda behind trouble: Brinda Karat

"Nandigram villagers driven out to hide the truth"

Kolkata: The violent incidents at Nandigram on March 14 were the result of a "motivated, malicious propaganda based on lies" by the Opposition parties, Brinda Karat, Polit Bureau member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), said here on Wednesday. Ms. Karat, who was here to meet the Nandigram villagers camping in the city since Tuesday demanding justice, said the families had been driven out so that they would not be able to tell the truth about the exact nature of events. "There is not a single Chief Minister in the country except Buddhadeb Bhattacharya who has ever made such a categorical statement that not a single inch of land will be taken without the consent of farmers," she said. Ms. Karat, who earlier visited those injured in a city hospital, said the villagers had been fed on the lie that the police were coming to occupy the land. "There is a village- to-village campaign by these people who are spreading the lie of land acquisition," Ms. Karat said. The villagers gave an account of the atrocities committed by the Bhumi Uchhed Pratirodh Committee members and sought justice, in an open letter to the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court.

So what is your point---since BJP led coalition came
into power in several states -you want to mean those
people in the sates are communal-- it sounds like you
and your party has the responsibility to uphold
secular nature of the country-- you are talking
bullshit like your Karat when they do not have
existance outside three states, West Bengal (we know
how they are managing to come to power after every
election--definiteky they deserve credit for that),
Kerala and Tripura

The Justice Or The General? One Has To Go By Aziz Narejo

http://countercurrents.org/pak-narejo220307.htm

The situation won't change if Justice Bhagwandas is allowed to resurface and take over the apex court. That is not the issue here. The people just won't accept any judge to replace Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry. And the present regime won't breathe easy if Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry returns to his job. One of the two has to go. That is certain

Kashmir: Terrorism Or Freedom Movement? By Akhila Raman

http://countercurrents.org/kashmir-raman220307.htm

Despite recent welcome thaw in Indo-Pak relations, Kashmir is continuing to bleed. This article argues that the massive bloodshed continuing in Kashmir is not merely a result of cross-border terrorism as the Indian State would like us to believe, but that there is also a genuine freedom struggle going on against the repressive Indian State by the Kashmiris who are alienated equally with India, Pakistan and the militants and whose grievances have their historical roots in the events of 1947

The Idea Of Bhagat Singh By Vidya Bhushan Rawat

http://countercurrents.org/rawat220307.htm

Bhagat Singh's ideas and sacrifice have the strength to bring hope in the lives of millions of struggling masses. Let us salute to this towering icon of our freedom movement for his indomitable spirit. Like Che Guevara, Bhagat Singh will always remain a hope for all those who believe in secular socialist values and reject the caste based hierarchical system
