Didn’t Tata & BSES provide & distribute 100% of electricity in present day Maharashtra in 1930 and their present generation capacity is 10% of requirement? Didn’t they provide 90% plus of all electricity in present day Maharashtra in 1960? Didn’t Tatas have all its generators before 1960 that were hydro units located in Maharashtra but supplied all electricity to Mumbai even now? Didn’t BSES own only one 500 MW unit that too is located in Dahanu, 200 Km north of Mumbai in Maharashtra? Didn’t Tata in last decade add a new generator at Bhira of 150 MW in Maharashtra that doubled peaking capacity of Bhira Hydro Project but added little more generation and all its power goes to Mumbai? Didn’t Tata in Mumbai generate from coal only 500 MW of power out of 1330 MW and rest is oil and gas fuel units and Hydro units in Maharashtra against peak demand projections of 2800 MW to 3000 MW in Mumbai? Didn’t Tata & BSES charge tariff in Mumbai equal to or more tariff than Maharashtra when their losses were marginal, didn’t supply subsidized irrigation power and not required to maintain statewide grid? How can you presume Maharashtra neither has any right in legal and illegal profits generated by Tatas and Reliance nor they are expected to augment power supply in Maharashtra? Hydro Power generated by Tatas in Maharashtra was 1378 MU annual average X 50 years = 68900 MU or 6890 crore units which alone @ Rs.4 per unit as average retail tariff at current prices without interest is Rs. 27,560 crores. Are profits from “Hydro Power Alone In 80 Years” not enough to provide 8,000 MW of pithead capacity in Maharashtra that is substantially more than current power shortage? Clearly Maharashtra was enriching Tatas and BSES for 80 years or more. After 17 years thanks to Greg Chappell who told BCCI in clear terms that Sachin and Ganguly lacks commitment to cricket fake injuries and avoid and absent from practice session that we learnt of the Match Fixing & Team Fixing Scam. Maharashtra and Mumbai is facing acute crisis due to corrupt practices of BSES and Tatas. On which I have replied as follows: (SJ: I will again repeat my reply I wrote month ago. Even if I admit your statement about siphoning of 1827 Cr, (1) How declaring the same amount as profit in pocket of BSES, will install generation capacity in MSEB? (2) How MSEB will generate electricity without Coal India augmenting the coal supply? (3) If file of Tata Power for generation unit is pending in Maharashtra Government offices, how the same money can install generation capacity. Dear Ravinder Singh ji, please appreciate legal axioms. (1) Will BSES give money to MSEB for erecting the generation unit? (2) Can BSES sell electricity to MSEB, before you shout about allegations of corruption on BSES? (3) Will BSES ask for additional distribution license or sell bulk supply to MSEB? It is 3.5 years now after passing the Electricity Act, 2003, which allowed distribution licence.
