I visited Mechheda, Tamluk, Haldia and found how bloody seculars are fostering fundamentalism. And this time a secular(sic) party vis a vis another secular (an western concept not fit for India) party for the sake of vote bank politics. At RoyChowk a Dub(tender coconut) seller complained that now the land cost has gone up from Rs. 500/1000/1500 to 4/5 Lakhs per Bigha(10/12 lakhs per acre) and how poor people may buy lands? And he agreed that in their family the land is now distributed amongst 9 persons(belonging to 2 persons before). I also asked why these parties(seculars) are instigating to deviate from GandhiGiri? Why people are now repenting for lost opportunity(price of land came down heavily in the concerned area. Many had bought lands for further profits. Answers? Later. I am still in Kolkata and want to have more inputs. At Durgapur-Panagarh belt I found about 20 pig iron factories which gobbled up enormous chunk of land. Villagers enjoying life with lots of cash and liquor. As pvt parties are involved in the selling, hence no furore. Mind it Burdwan district has the most fertile land. Anyway I would be happy if Barjorha in Bankura district gets the chemical hub. Central govt should give up the lands occupied by closed units like Hindustan Fertilizers et al. Another bridge on Damodar and pipe lines to carry chemicals. panda

The Vice Chancellor suddenly resigns – A student is shot dead in the heart of the university. The sad happenings at AMU have all of us aghast and lamenting. It keeps repeating every few years, the characters change, but the malady remains the same. I plead guilty of being a distant observer, but at times it is a picture is clearer from a distance
