Subject: Assam government is protecting Bangladeshis for vote bank politics : Samujjal

NESO dares Assam Chief Minister NET News Network Guwahati, August 5: The North East Students Organization (NESO) has challenged the Assam chief minister to give a clarion call to all the suspected Bangladeshi nationals in the state to leave Assam on their own. The Neso’s challenge came on Sunday after its two day general council meeting at Shillong from August 3, where the eight students’ bodies of the seven states decided to fight against the ongoing infiltration from Bangladesh together. Neso adviser Samujjal Bhattacharyya said that Assam government is protecting the ‘escaped suspected Bangladeshi nationals’ from Arunachal Pradesh and other states of the region for vote bank politics. “The All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) issued quit notices to all the suspected Bangladeshi nationals in the state and about 25,000 people left the state immediately,” he said and added that how can Assam government own these people as Assamese. “The Aapsu did not use any force to chase the people. The people left the state immediately after the quit notice. This indicates that the escaped people themselves admit them as Bangladeshi nationals, how can Assam chief minister term them as Assam’s population,” wondered Bhattacharyya. Secretary general of the Neso Gumjum Haider, who also represents Aapsu, said, “It is ridiculous. Assam government owned those people who left our state after our quit notice to Bangladeshis. If they are genuine Indian people (and nor Bangladeshis) they should have rather stayed back in Arunachal Pradesh”. Bhattacharyya said that AAPSU has given quit notices suspected Bangladeshis and the state government had supported them. “It is shameful that the state government here has been protecting those Bangladeshis for strengthening its vote banks,” he said and added that we challenge the chief minister to give a clarion call. The NESO in the two day meeting also unanimously decided to fight for three causes good education, good educational institutional and good employment for the youth. “Besides we have also decided to demand for a separate education commission for the northeast,” he said. “We are also demanding to all the state governments to implement Inner Line Permit in all the northeastern states which is expected to stop the infiltration,” said Bhattacharyya. http://northeasttribune.com/7144.htm

Subject: Exploitation of credit card holders by the bank

Credit card is a convenient medium of exchange. Generally you pay a fixed annual fee and if you pay the amount charged on the card by the monthly cut out date NO INTEREST can be charged. But if you fail to pay that amount then the bank would charge you interest.

In Pakistan a foreign bank charges such exorbitant interest as 3.5 % per month and calls it service fee over and above the annual fee which works to over
52% annual interest whereas in US various state laws restrict interest to barely 9 % to 12% pa

I wonder why State Bank of Pakistan is keeping quiet over such cruel exploitation of middle class. As the rich are not fools to pay such high interest specially when they can get loan from local banks at much lower rate. In Pakistan mostly middle class people get credit card loans. The average loans barely come to RS. 75, 000/-.. Even after covering the defaults the bank is making Billions in profits.

People are chased by salesmen and girls to acquire credit cards. Most consumers come to know about such heavy interest only after they incur loan and cannot get out out of the bind of usurious bankers. In USA the bank advertise all charges in their ads and leaflets but here in Pakistan such charges are cleverly hidden in fine print. The silence of State Bank of Pakistan and Ministry of Finance is deplorable.

Subject: Indo-US Nuclear Deal: July 18 2005 Joint Statement Is OK, 123 Agreement Is Not!

http://www.indiadaily.com/editorial/12528.asp

BJP and CPI(M) joined hands in Rajya Sabha to demand a resolution disapproving certain aspects of the Indo-US nuclear deal Media Release Aug. 3, 2006

In a rare convergence, BJP and CPI(M) joined hands in Rajya Sabha to demand a resolution disapproving certain aspects of the Indo-US nuclear deal that led to noisy scenes and two adjournments of the House.

The issue rocked the House soon after it met for the day with BJP leader Sushma Swaraj seeking to know whether the government would move a resolution reflecting the sentiments of the House that goalposts on the deal, signed last year on July 18, should not be shifted. She was supported by CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury who also wanted the government to come out with a resolution. "We are not going beyond what you said. There should be a resolution, motion, declaration or sentiment," he said.

Yechuri contended that the goal-post set out in the July 18 agreement was clearly being shifted with IAEA inspections in perpetuity prior to finalisation of the legislation by the House of Representatives and the Senate.
