Namaskar Mitra,

a dear friend who works in Muscat sent me pictures of the Shiv Mandir there. This temple is about 150 years old. The Oman government is liberal enough to allow this temple to exist, something that is uncommon in the Middle East.

Peace is doable or PEACE IS ORGANISED MURDER?

With in two week time more than 5 CPM activists or their family members are murdered in Nandigram by these so called peace campaigners and SHAMELESSLY accusing cpm?

THIS IS THE TRUE NATURE OF THE ACTIVISTS WHO CAMPAIGN FOR PEACE.

I have no surprise tomorrow if you start praise Modi and Hindutva because of your CPM Hate!

Latest reports from Nandigram indicates that 3more CPM cadres are murdered.

So we assume that KILLING cpm cadre is not VIOLANCE AND murder.

People continuously harvesting on false propagandas, accuse others as Nazi and Fascists. And they are the self declared Messiahs of Anti Nuclear/Anti Bomb Peace Campaigners.

What is the integrity of these propagators? Look at the double standard of these Messiahs of Indian Landless! A mass struggle is going in Andhra Pradesh campaigining Land for the Landless These Self claimed Messiahs have not YET heard about it.

But why? Because the struggle is against Congress Party, Its Govt and its Leaders.

Look at the way these self caliming Messiahs of Anti Bomb responding to Manmohans Nuclear Deal!

They are very silent observatory and only an Out looker because Manmohan and Sonia are more important to them and by that direction BUSH too belongs to them

Press Statement The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

Nandigram: Check Maoist Violence The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses deep concern at the recurrence of violence in the Nandigram area of West Bengal. Despite efforts at disinformation, the actual situation there has become clear. For the past eight months, after the state government announced that there is no question of land acquisition for a chemical hub, an alliance of political forces have occupied the area and physically driven out all those who are identified with the CPI(M) and the Left. Under the guise of the Bhumi Ucchad Pratirodh Samiti, the Trinamul Congress and some other forces have combined to maintain their sway in the area.

In order to achieve their aims they have ganged up with the Maoists who have brought in armed squads from outside West Bengal. For the past few months the administration and the police have been out of the area which has been utilised by the armed elements led by the Maoists to entrench themselves. Bunkers have been built and landmines laid. One of the squads is led by Ranjit Pal who was involved in the killing of JMM MP, Sunil Mahato in Jharkhand. The Maoists’ role has been exposed by the landmine blasts which took place on November 6. Of the five landmines that were planted, three exploded, killing two persons. Such landmines are being used by the Maoists in Jharkhand and Chattisgarh.

Those who continue to project the trouble in Nandigram as a land issue are deliberately covering up these disruptive activities aimed at the physical elimination of political opponents. This cannot be allowed by any state government in a democratic society. The state government should ensure the induction of the Central security forces in the area to restore normality and peace. end

Now the organ of the "proletariat", or maybe "proletarian bourgeois", the great Hindu is quoting Jyoti Basu as wondering, "What are the police doing ..?"

And it is also reporting how the other Left allies are resisting the efforts of the CPIM to cause an even greater bloodbath in Nandigram and put the blame on the central forces.

Planned attack: RSP minister OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT

Calcutta, Nov. 6: The CPM’s allies saw a design in the escalation of violence and at least one of them, the RSP, directly accused it of launching a “planned attack” on Nandigram with “armed supporters”. “The Union home ministry has said it would be difficult to send the CRPF immediately because of polls in other states. So the CPM has assembled its armed supporters to mount the attack in a planned manner with the backing of the Eastern Frontier Rifles,” PWD minister Kshiti Goswami said. He suspected that the CPM was “in a hurry” to crush the Opposition’s control of Nandigram as it would like the panchayat polls — due in May — to be brought forward. The home secretary today said CPM supporters in Khejuri started the fight last night. A day before the Left Front meets to discuss the deployment of central forces, the Forward Bloc and CPI said they had heard what the government had to say and harped on the need for a political dialogue. CPM state secretary Biman Bose did not react to the home secretary’s comment but other leaders said the supporters were “only defending themselves against Trinamul-Maoist attacks’’. “I don’t know what hap- pened last night. But we are facing attacks from Trinamul and Maoist goons since January,” said Dipak Dasgupta, the CPM state secretariat member in charge of East Midnapore. “Why did the home secretary not say that our party office was attacked last night? Our homeless supporters put up the resistance required to ensure their return,” said fellow state secretariat member Shyamal Chakraborty. If the allies had no doubt about the CPM’s role in the violence, they also had no doubt that Mamata Banerjee did not want peace. Goswami said: “It is in Mamata’s interest to keep the cauldron boiling.” The Bloc’s Ashok Ghosh was reluctant to renew his peace efforts as neither the government nor Mamata wanted it. CPM leader Benoy Konar said: “Before the CRPF comes, the ground reality is either we wrest control of our positions or they take over Khejuri.”

Peace is doable.

Musharraf's Coup Against Judiciary By Gul Jammas Hussain

http://www.countercurrents.org/hussain071107.htm

The Americans do not want a genuine political process to flourish in Pakistan, something that could bring into power true leaders who will not side with the United States. As Hamid Mir, one of the country's sharpest journalists, said Saturday that he believed the U. S. embassy in Islamabad had green-lighted Musharraf for the emergency move

Pakistan - Back To The Past Again By Mirza A. Beg

http://www.countercurrents.org/beg071107.htm

Will the future ever arrive in Pakistan? It is back to the past again. Technically, President Musharraf has declared an emergency, but in reality, it is a coup against the democracy creeping in; which he reluctantly promised eight years ago. This time General Musharraf overthrew the government of the other infernal co-resident in his body, President Musharraf

Pakistanization Of Pakistan And The Night Of The Generals By Taj Hashmi

http://www.countercurrents.org/hashmi071107.htm

We may single out the “Pakistan Syndrome”, which stands for the supremacy of the military-civil bureaucracy with the ever-growing influence of the mullah, for the prevalent chaos in the country. The Pakistani experience could be a good lesson for other Muslim majority countries that the promotion of mullahs, Shariah, Islamism or Political Islam, even out of political expediency, could be disastrous for a liberal democracy

Educating Pakistan By Niranjan Ramakrishnan

http://www.countercurrents.org/rama071107.htm

Give us time, give us time, said Musharraf in his speech, appealing to the West; we are still learning, our democracy is not yet as evolved as yours. Musharraf is right -- Pakistan is still a child in these matters. Clearly his friend and financier in the White House has not let him in on the big secret -- in an 'evolved' democracy, you can get all this power without declaring an emergency!

Sri Lanka: Bombing To Peace A Tactical Diversion By Chandi Sinnathurai

http://www.countercurrents.org/sinnathurai071107.htm

After killing the Tamil Tiger political head and the chief peace negotiator Mr Thamil Chelvam on November 2 in an air raid, the Rajapaksha regime is determined to bomb to smithereens other top-level Tiger leaders. This strategy will achieve the objective : there will be peace in Sri Lanka. War for peace. That is the mantra of the Government
