Sycophancy is not the strongest basis for a strong democracy.. It is so irritating to see the Congress party turn into an ineffective "elephant" mainly because of this worship of a dynasty.. Can anyone even turn around without Sonia Gandhi's permission? Pluralism in this great nation will soon be a thing of the past if this continues.. All the real leaders in the Congress party seem to have gone dumb.. Though he expressed his apprehensions that the elections would be held at all, he said, "If our party wins a majority in next month's elections, I will not take a cabinet post but will act like Sonia Gandhi, as an advisory figure without a seat in Parliament." The elections which were earlier scheduled for January 8 were put off till February 18 following Bhutto's assassination on December 27 and the ensuing violence that left scores of people dead. Zardari said the night before Benazir Bhutto was assassinated he had begged his wife on the phone to stop holding election rallies and let him take her place. "She had just addressed this public meeting in Peshawar where they'd caught this suicide bomber," Zardari said. "I told her, for God's sake be careful, but she said, 'what can I do? ''We are a pluralistic nation and we respect all religions. I love literature and I have nothing against her writings. That does not mean she can use her pen to insult and hurt the religious beliefs of any community,” he said in Malda, West Bengal. "The comments made by her in the book in question (Dwikhandito) were uncalled for. She should bow down before the people whose sentiments she has hurt and apologise with folded hands, and expunge those pages from her book," Dasmunsi said. "We did not allow Salman Rushdie's book ('The Satanic Verses') when it caused a flutter and raised controversy. She will not be an exception," said Dasmunsi. ''Bangladesh is a neighbouring country and neither the society nor the government can allow such controversial writing.” Nasreen has been confined to a 'safe house' somewhere in Delhi and shut out from the world except for phone calls and emails. The Central government has told her to leave the country or stay confined in a house away from Kolkata, where she had set up home for the past few years returning from exile in Europe after she was hounded out of Bangladesh for her writings. Asked if Nasreen should be allowed to return to West Bengal, Dasmunsi said: ''When the state government had welcomed her to Kolkata, they were under the impression that they were about to bring a high tide of progress in the state. It is their headache now.'' But if Taslima has to stay in India or any other country, she has to honour and respect the philosophy and identity of that nation, he added. She obeyed the father and paid for it by staking her own life. He knew she would be the PM some day and she knew she would be finished some day ;she at least kept speaking about it .She longed to be the PM of Pakistan like Indira Gandhi of India.. a role model for young Benizeer. Doesn't it reminds us of Jinnah whose sole ambition was to be a Gandhi or Nehru either in India or Pakistan and realized soon he couldn't be one at all ? and that shattered his dreams along with him? And we made a lot about her assassination. One thing is so sure; We don't know if the nation in turmoil will be democratized at all in near future; we only know that Indian secular democratic system is certainly dependent on the sound demo. process in Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan , Shrilanka ... and obviously in the USA .. the master mind behind all political assassinations all over the World. USA has flattened the democracies in the making. God and Allah only blesses USA outfits.. The largest democracy (US)in the World couldn't tolerate even the makeshift democracy in the artificially created nation called Pakistan and thrived all these years to bring it under the feudal democrats so that they can be controlled against controls for India.. another largest democracy in the World! And we have a section back in India that keeps hating Pakistan, Islam, Muslims, secular democracy ... and has such a childish fascination to the democracy; the US style. They along with their young brother were severely beaten by culprits after molestation. Timapur police station refused to lodge First Information Report (FIR). Fact Finding Team of NE Support Centre & Helpline rushed to the spot to extend the help and gave trauma counseling to the victims. Incident happened while 18 year old Priya (name changed) younger sister doing coaching for Medical Entrance, was returning back from near by vegetable market at around 7:30 PM, two men, one of them is Chinky from same locality, followed her and passed vulgar comments on her. Priya told her 20 years old sister Manju (name changed) who runs a cyber cab on lease and reported her of what has happened. While both the sisters were inside the cyber cab along with their 17 years old brother, Chinky and his friend continued to tease them by passing lewd comments on them. Both the sisters kept ignoring them, but Chinky and his friend continued to abuse them, then Manju out of shame and frustration slapped on the face of Chinky. Chinky and his friend threaten both the sisters and left the place. Chinky sent a group of 25 men around 9.30 PM and molested and beaten both the sisters and their young brothers. Both sisters and boy suffer injuries on face, hand and bleeding on leg. Immediately one boy from North East who witnessed the incident rang up to NE Support Centre & Helpline and instruction were given to ring up to Police Helpline 100. Police cops came after 30 minutes after the incident and later they were called to Timapur police station. Victims told NE Support Centre & Helpline that their complaints were not taken by police officer on duty, rather girls were told to identity the culprits then FIR will be registered. Police did not have women police when the victims were taken to Timapur police station and no medical treatment was provided to the injured victims. The Fact Finding Team have sought to approach higher authorities to book the accused. When police have not taken the complaint, victim had to seek help from media. Victim told NE Support Centre & Helpline that police has scolded them for informing to media. Manju came from Indo-Myanmar boarder called Moreh. After completing her Graduation Science runs a cyber cab in Gandhi Vihar on lease to support her sister and brother who are pursuing for Medical studies and later for technological study. North East Girls in Delhi & NCR Continues to suffer On December 23, NE Support Centre & Helpline was reported that a girl from Manipur working as a receptionist in a private company was molested by her boss in the office. A minor NE girl in Gurgaon still suffers after she was molested three times in last December by house owner. Police initially reputed to take the complaint, but molestation charges is registered against the house owner after approaching Commission Police Gurgaon, but till the filing of this report, accused is still roaming free and personal belongs to the victim are still under the custody of the house owner. Nearly 50% of sexual assault happens in Delhi and NCR has happened to the girls from North East India. North East Support Centre sees it as serious concern for the safety of the community from North East India. The finding of NE Support Centre & Helpline is that the main reason behind targeting north east people in Delhi and NCR is the mindset of people. “The north east people are citizen of India, should not treated differently because they look different” In most of the cases, police do not take complaint at first approach; police duty officers had to wait until flashed and instruction from higher police.
