The following news will further expose the hitherto baseless allegations harped upon the four hapless victims of June 15 "encounter" whom the trigger-happy Gujarat Police termed as LeT operatives. And, in post-encounter killing scenario, Modi's Lashkar-phobia police are in desperate search for evidence to connect the dead with some terrorist outfit or the other. An example : One of the dead, Javed, while leaving his father's house in Kerala on June 05 kept a bunch of tender coconuts plucked from the coconut tree within the house compound. According to Javed's father, Gopinathan Pillai, this was done at the request of Javed's son for drinking the tender coconut water enroute to Pune. The coconuts were kept in the car dicky. Two days after the June 15 "encounter", the alert Gujarat police apparently recovered some of these coconuts from the dicky of the same car. They also promptly announced to presspersons that these coconuts were meant to use as grenades to kill Modi by the LeT!!! Gujart police should at least know from the cracker-makers in deep South that tender coconut shells even for crackers. Only hard coconut shells are used by them. As is within their system, the Gujarat Police can of course lie. Let's all pray to Modi, for his own good, to make his uniformed men to tell some convincing lies of nicety. Afterall, they are the ones to protect his life from the seemingly endless LeT murder attempts while, as per the old addage, one cannot trust those who are habituated in telling lies. -- Mukundan C. HC orders release of ???Lashkar??™ man DCB had alleged that he and two accused had conspired to kill Modi Express News Service Ahmedabad, June 23: THE Gujarat High Court on Tuesday ordered release of Hafiz Mohammad Tahir Manzoorahmed Qureshi, an alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba operative arrested by city police Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) in December 2002 on charges of conspiring to kill Modi, VHP leader Pravin Togadia and other leaders on conditional bail. While booking Tahir and two others for hatching a criminal conspiracy to wage war against the country under provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the DCB had then alleged that Tahir and the other accused had identified children orphaned during post-Godhra riots for sending them for terrorist training and had planned to kill Modi and other leaders. Justice A L Dave, while ordering release of Tahir on a bail of Rs 25,000, held that there is nothing to indicate involvement of the accused in sending children for terrorist training for waging a war against the country. While granting bail, Justice Dave, however, directed him not leave the limits of Ahmedabad district and to present himself before the DCB every Sunday. Bail had earlier been refused to Tahir on the grounds that he was an accused in a serious case of conspiring to wage war against the country. Tahir, who hails from village Asalatpura in Muradabad district of Uttar Pradesh, was first arrested by the Delhi police on August 28, 2002 with two other alleged Lashkar operatives ??” Shahid Ahmed Baxi, hailing from Ahmedabad and settled in Kuwait and Farhan Ahmed Wali, also hailing from Muradabad, while in possession of four kg RDX, a Chinese-made pistol and 15 live cartridges. According to the DCB FIR, it was during his questioning by Delhi police that he revealed that he had visited the city during the riots along with Farhan and had met Shahid and had visited certain relief camps. Two months after his arrest, Tahir was arrested by the DCB and brought to the city on charges of identifying 30 riot-orphaned children for terrorist training and conspiring with other LeT operatives to kill Modi and other leaders. For this purpose, they had set up a base in the city and had gone to Delhi for procuring the weapons and explosives when they were caught. Advocate Hashim Qureshi, while arguing for Tahir??™s release on bail, submitted that nowhere does the DCB FIR against the accused state that he had sent children for terrorist training. He said that some riot-orphaned children had been under care of the accused and ??????he was looking after them.??™??™ The accused had at no point sent any of the children for any terrorist training, it was further submitted. Tahir has already been granted by the Delhi POTA court in the RDX seizure case as it was not from his possession that it was found. Against these arguments, all that the prosecution could furnish before the court was a letter written in Urdu stating that Tahir had visited the city during the riots. However, the court refused to rely on the prosecution claims and directed Tahir??™s release.
