The State BJP president, N. Indrasena Reddy, today said there was no clarity in the State Government's stand on naxalism and wondered how far it could go in engaging the Left extremist groups in talks. At a press conference, the BJP leader alleged that the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and his Ministers were speaking in different voices over the issue. There was no coherent line of thought. "We are observing the talks keenly and will formulate a comprehensive view in our executive meeting scheduled for October 24 and 25."( The Hindu, October 17, 2004, Sunday) http://www.hindu.com/2004/10/17/stories/2004101706040600.htm ------------------------------------------------------------------ #2 INL To Take Up Mahdani Issue With TN New Indian Express, October 17, 2004, Sunday INL to take up Mahdani issue with TN KOZHIKODE: Indian National League will take up the issue of the release of PDP leader Abdul Nazar Mahdani, now lodged in jail in connection with the Coimbatore bomb blast case, with the Tamil Nadu Government. Addressing a news conference here on Saturday, INL state general secretary P.M.A. Salam said party president Ibrahim Sulaiman Sait would meet Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa in this regard. ‘‘He will also meet Mahdani in jail,’’ Salam said. Salam said the UDF cheated the PDP leader after seeking his support in last Assembly elections. Meanwhile, the PDP has decided to organise an indefinite fast in front of the Secretariat from October 18 to press the State Government to intervene to get medical treatment for Mahdani. PDP state vice-chairman U.
