From: Kalyan Mondal <kalyan_mondal2000@yahoo.com> Date: Mon Jan 17, 2005 0:01am Subject: Re: [indiathinkersnet] Re: Tsunami and the role of the US,Re-Revolution & on price rise Dear Friend In todays world it is totally foolishness to boycot stuff made of one country. It is not possible to deny that America is far ahead in a no of fields, strating from the health sector, social arena to science and technology--- Major problem for us Indian as well as people of third world countries is that we are accepting the worse things of the West and put the blame on them. Today world is so short-- all Multinational Companies are looking from West to East to sell their stuffs--whether it is bad or good for us-- now it is our responsibility is to grow up and figure it out which one is good and which one is bad-- We talk about about family relationship problem, single mother problem and respect to the elder problem are of western culture-- no doubt --but what we are observing day by day is that our belovened country is approaching to this direction iinch by inch-- take the recent example of RKPuram inicdent in New Delhi--- I was listening some interseting conversation in indiatimes.com radio--where some people was actually appreciating this as a shake up to the society-- shake up like this-- what a thought -- can they have same opinion if it is happening in her/his family. We are becoming narrow minded day by day thinking about ourselves , forgetting the social responsibility -- I have the opportunity to look closely some American Cultural because of study in America, where I saw how people are changing their thinking about family and social responsiblity-- I am now in Florida-- which was hit by three strom with in one month and I saw how the common people came forward for the help of their fellow suffering. Do we do our job in the right way when our part of country was heated by tsunami-- if at least we pay few rupees everyone then think about how much we can collect after all we are 100 crores people. It is very easy to sit in front of cmputer and find out the flaws of others-- I am not meaning you singly --I mean to all who are talking about America's responsibilty-- think practically-- why America should come forward afetr all it is not they who suffered-- and also they know whether they help us or not they will be able to sell their product to the third world countries---why and how--- Please ask your self-- do we have proper research facilities in several fields including medicines, house hold stuffs and other civic facilities-- We are complaining about bad infrastructure but do you know here in USA we have to pay road tax whenever we have to buy every gallon of gas-- do we have the same-- do you think about where the Gov would get the money. Even if there is that provision, think about how much we are actually getting. Let me give you a simple example-- the WestBengal government put road tax foe all cars passing through the Second Hooghly Bridge. but they found that what they should actually be able to collect, they are getting much much less and suffering huge amount of money every day just because of lack of resposibilities from the tax collecting people. this is not the one example. you can have several such examples. There was a lot of discussion about the R K Puram incident-- but report cam in news paper that in every single Cmetropolitian cities there is a market for such CDs and Police know that but they never take any action. But they put the CEO of bazee.com under the bar. Look at the IT sector-- how much we are progressing--- also in BPO -- however we still lack the professional attitude. What english used to do during their RAJ in INDIA-- they used to collect cotton from indian farmers and sent it to their countries where they made cloths and sold it back to India. We have to take that attitude-- we have to use our strength of buying capacity-- and force all those Multinational Companies building up Industries in India, which can solve our unemployment problem to some extent. In USA universities are strongly involved in several researches even meant for Army-- But take a look at the situation in our Universities-- as well as several big Indian Industries-- do they have proper Research field-- We are not lacking intelligent people but lack the attitude of the CEOs of those companies-- So blaming USA is very easy but we need to grow up. We need to look at us-- look at China they are encouraging chinese people getting technological knowledge from West to come back. They are properly using their cheep man power forcing the Multinational companies to set up Industries their-- even they are lacking english---Now the world is full of Chinese stuff which are not only cheap, but also attractive and has the lasting power--- look at the japanees car how they are pushing the American car companies out of race--- If we have to sustain we have to accept the reality and also built up our society and educate the young geneartion what is good and what is bad-- when you have the full exposure to the world, we have more responsibilty to make our children to understand what is good for them and not encouraging any incidents like R K Puram as it happened with others---- look at the infrastrure and facilities available in several universities for proper research and also communication among them-- only the IITs have some short of such facilities. Our doctors are escaping from their responsibilities-- politican are involved in simple castism to get the power--- we blamed British for their divide and rull policies-- but what are our current politicians doing--- every single incidents are getting political color do you think America is responsible for that-- we have the problem of growing population, every one knows that yet no one is taking responsibilite to address the incident just for the fear of lossing vote-- It is not only the muslims but even the Hindus and Christans have the same problem-- but it is only among the poor people. An educated and responsible parent can not think about to have a lot of children as they need a lot of resource to give them proper education. But the poor looks with a different attitude as they cosider their children as the machine for earning bread and butter. If we can not change this attitude then nothing will change. So my dear friend --grow up and understand your responsibility -- the same is applicable for me and the crores of Indians -- we first do our duties and then complain about others. Thanks for your patience to read this.
