Forum in Canada Formed for Republican Democracy in
Nepal:

Friends,

The Forum for the People's Democracy in Nepal (FPDN)
is an advocacy organization acting as a common forum
for all Nepali expatriates and friends of Nepal in
Canada who want to see Nepal as popular,
representative, and republican people's democracy.

The FPDN members believe that the monarchy and
secular, democratic polity cannot co-exist in Nepal. A
democracy based on multiparty republican principles is
the only genuine solution to bring about the political
stability and peace amid the continuous political
conflict. We recognize that the ultimate sources of
political power in Nepal are the Nepali citizens, who
are fully capable of governing themselves through
popular representation.

Our Mission

The mission of FPDN Canada is to make an all-out
effort to help the people of Nepal who are fighting
for the establishment of a Republican People's
Democracy. To this end, we stand behind all republican
democrats in Nepal to demand:

- Immediate revocation of the royal coup of February
1, 2005;

- Immediate Ceasefire between the Royal Nepal Army and
the Maoist People's Liberation Army, Nepal, under the
auspices of United Nations or some other truly neutral
international powers or authority;

- An All-Party Consultative Conference with the
objective of setting up an Interim Coalition
Government to supervise the election of a Constituent
Assembly to draft a new democratic Constitution for
Nepal.

Status of Our Organization

Formed on February 21, 2005, the FDPN-Canada is
currently managed by an Ad-hoc Organizing Committee.
This Committee will call for a general assembly of
people supporting the Mission of FPDN-Canada. In the
meantime, the Committee will carry out awareness
campaigns against the monarchical tyranny and its
army's atrocities against the civilian population.
While opposing the royal tyranny, the Forum will focus
in advocacy campaigns in favour of the republican
people's democracy for Nepal.
