The worst-hit areas are the northcoastal districts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, east and west Godavari, Krishna, Khammam and Warangal district. There are fears that Godavari river may overflow and flood Bhadraachalam and Rajahmundry areas. The water level has reached 55.5 feet at Bhadraachalam (2.5 feet above danger level) and has crossed 19.2 feet at Rajahmundry. There are also fears that the level could rise in the next two days. Nearly 14,000 people have been evacuated and 126 relief camps have been opened. Transport services affected Meanwhile, the heavy rains have completely thrown the transport services in the state out of gear. The National Highway nine, which connects Hyderabad to Vijaywada, Visakhapatnam, Chennai and Kolkata, is still closed. Hundred of cars, buses and trucks have been stranded for several hours now. Authorities anticipate it will take another couple of hours for the highway to be functional again. The railway track between Vijaywada and Warangal has been breached at a number of locations. The Tamil Nadu Express, which had been marooned since 7 pm (IST) yesterday near Warangal, has now been moved to Vijaywada. The train had left Chennai for Delhi on Monday. Also, 21 trains from Hyderabad have been cancelled due to heavy rain. ------------------ [4] From: Sukla Sen <suklasen@yahoo.com> Date: Wed Sep 21, 2005 Subject: George Galloway on the US, Hurricane Katrina and Iraq War http://www.commondreams.org/cgi-bin/print.cgi?file=/views05/0919-21.htm Published on Monday, September 19, 2005 by the Madison Capital Times (Wisconsin) Galloway's Frankness Invigorates, Shocks Americans by John Nichols ------------- [5] From: Pradeep Deshpande <proton54@hathway.com> Date: Wed Sep 21, 2005 Subject: bibletruths for believers..who are they? Some self-proclaimed God-blessers have begun flooding e-mails with what HE said on WHAT.A careful reading of the material compells one to feel that here's another world of religious fanatics that have cropped up like snakes in the grass. The said group is spreading it's material and much resembles Muslim and hindu fanatics. It's not yet clear if the material is a dramatic work for creating right conditions for the the so called theory of 'clash of civilisations' designed by US imperialists for taking on Islamic teachings but presently confined to attacking of some smaller nations owing and possesing oil resources. Will someone please clarify the eventualities ? |
