I don't know which India you are talking about.
Most people in India do not even have an indoor toilet and do not
condemn any one to anything. If you travel by train any where in India in the morning, the most memorable spectacle is the row of men and women relieving themselves without any need of any person of any caste.

Subject: Re: [indiathinkersnet] Independent: Ten million girls aborted as Indians seek male heirs

This is a ridiculous figure picked up from the writer's hat.
The first problem of India is overpopulation regardless of the sex of the  fetus. It is only the rich who can afford the sex predermintation and they have  very few children anyway.
We should try to cut down the irresponsible breeding by the poor and
superstitious. I admire China for their one child policy which should be adopted in India  too otherwise
India will never be able to progress.

William Rivers Pitt | Attack on Iran: A Looming Folly

http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/010906I.shtml

William Rivers Pitt writes that the wires have been humming since before the New Year with reports that the Bush administration is planning an attack on Iran. "The Bush administration is preparing its NATO allies for a possible military strike against suspected nuclear sites in Iran in the New Year, according to German media reports, reinforcing similar earlier suggestions in the Turkish media," reported UPI on December 30th. An examination of the ramifications of such an attack is desperately in order.

Eliot Weinberger | What I Heard about Iraq in 2005

http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/010906O.shtml

Eliot Weinberger writes: In 2005, I heard that Coalition forces were camped in the ruins of Babylon. I heard that bulldozers had dug trenches through the site and cleared areas for helicopter landing pads and parking lots, that thousands of sandbags had been filled with dirt and archaeological fragments, that a 2600-year-old brick pavement had been crushed by tanks, and that the moulded bricks of dragons had been gouged out from the Ishtar Gate by soldiers collecting souvenirs.
