Read: Feroze Khan banned from entering Pakistan "I stand by every word that I said in Pakistan," Khan told India TV, when asked whether his utterances about the relative state of Muslims in the two countries need not have been made while in Pakistan, according to a press release issued by the news channel. "What wrong I did by reminding Pakistani Muslims that India is the most secular country in the world? What wrong did I commit if I reminded them that only in India we have a Muslim as the President of the Republic and a Sikh as the Prime Minister of the country," Khan said. Khan reiterated that the condition of Muslims in Pakistan was "very bad" compared to those living in India, the India TV release said. Referring to the ban on his entry into Pakistan, the veteran actor said, "I do not agree with President Musharraf. I do not agree one bit with him. But I must hasten to add that he has acted within his powers and I respect him as a statesman". -------------- [3] From: Sukla Sen <suklasen@yahoo.com> Date: Sun May 21, 2006 Subject: South Asia: Insurgencies of Despair, Uprisings of Hope http://www.himalmag.com/2006/may/southasiasphere.html Insurgencies of despair, uprisings of hope ---------------- [4] From: Parvez Jamasji <parvez1942@yahoo.com> Date: Sun May 21, 2006 Subject: Re: [indiathinkersnet] Women's groups on sex scandal in Kashmir Neta-Babu-Police have surpassed the Vulture. A section of Indian Muslim has always favoured the idea and insisted that by having a Muslim political party they may be heard more attentively, able to raise their voices in different important forums and may represent the community in government bodies as representatives of the Muslim community of India. Another section has called it disastrous saying that the move will polarize the already communally charged environment in favour of one communal outfit that has the very idea of separation based on the religious identity. Now the success of AUDF in Assam assembly elections has brought the question to the fore once again. ?» login <http://www.indianmuslims.info/user/login> or register<http://www.indianmuslims.info/user/register>to post comments | read more<http://www.indianmuslims.info/news/2006/may/20/articles/the_idea_of_having_regional_muslim_parties.html> |
