We will accept your beliefs and will not question why, all we ask is that you
accept ours and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.

. . . . could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that
Australia was a Secular State and its laws were made by parliament

INDIA, Canada, NewZealand, Brittan, ARE YOU LISTNING

   1. A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to
Australia at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard.

   2.  . . . . clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not
accept that Australia was a Secular State and its laws were made by parliament

   3. "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law
or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you," he said on national
television

   4. IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT.  Take It Or Leave It I am tired of
this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their
culture.

   5. Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did
not want to accept local values should "clear off".

   6. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world
as your new home, Because God is part of our culture. NOT Allah.

   7. We will accept your beliefs and will not question why, all we ask is that
you accept ours and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.

   Thanks for your time

   Best Wishes

Subject: Re: where is our media going with our culture?

Culture is the name for what people are interested in, their thoughts, their movies, their models, the books they read and the speeches they hear, their table-talk, gossip, controversies, historical sense and scientific training, the values they appreciate, the quality of life they admire. All communities have a culture. It is the climate of their civilization. But the Pakistan cultural center in Islamabad shows farmers, peasants in ancient dresses, their potteris, their ancient utensils etc, which are far from realities. Our youth are more interested in pop music than ghazals or classical music.

The way our TV hosts and participants in discussions or interviews brutalize Urdu with badly pronounced English words shows that we are in the process of creating what deserves to be called the idiot culture. Not an idiot sub-culture, which every society has bubbling beneath the surface and which can provide harmless fun; but the culture itself.

In the West the intellectuals are concerned that the weird and the stupid and the coarse are becoming their cultural norm, even cultural ideal. and we in India and Pakistan try to copy what the intellecuals in the West regard as idiot culture or MTV culture.

Subject: Re: [indiathinkersnet] Increase oil prices or sell PSUs: my art in Bus Standard

This announcement made by Meera Kumar is simple to understand.

Presently all the Nationalised Enterprises (Banks, Insurance, Airports, Hotels, Heavy Industries, Mines, Airlines, Air India,) NTPC,  BHEL, BOKARO., ROURKELA,  HEC, HMT, BHARAT   ELECTRONICS,  EARTH MOVERS, AND OTHER GIANTS. They are all full of employees appointed on Quota and Reservation basis without any merits.

These Enterprises are being PRIVATISED due to accumulated losses and incompetence.

Once they are privatised, the private players will not continue to incur the liability of Quota and Reservation Policy and practices of the Government.

So this is the signal to private players who may BID for the take over.

There will be no BIDS from Genuine private players and companies will be cornered by politicians and their groups at throw away bids.

Secondly this announcement will beat the communist controlled union in respect of "Air-Port Privatisation strike". This will give them assurance of employment after privatisation through government legislation.
