Our recent
visit to the Cambridge, Ohio area
We are so happy
that the snow is gone and we've already traveled on our first winery
adventure of 2008. In late March, we stopped by three wineries in the
Cambridge, Ohio area. Our first stop was at Al-Bi Winery in Dellroy, which
offers a vast selection and specializes in fruit wines. Our second stop
was at Raven's Glenn Winery in West Lafayette. We visited this winery
within months of its opening and decided it was time for a return visit.
We were very impressed with some of the changes that had taken place since
our initial visit. Our final stop was at Terra Cotta Winery in New
Concord. We ended our evening sipping a glass of Chambourcin Rose at this
charming boutique winery. We're
in the process of writing all the reviews, so visit the Southeast
Ohio Wineries page for all the details. Pictured:

Gracious
hospitality in Cambridge, Ohio
Colonel
Taylor Inn Bed & Breakfast
We had the pleasure of spending the night in this gorgeous bed and
breakfast in the heart of Cambridge, Ohio. The magnificent beauty of the
home took our breath away the minute we pulled into the drive. Gary and I
stayed in the Iris Suite - a two bedroom suite on the second floor with working gas fireplace
and private bath. Our accommodations were top-notch -
we couldn't have asked for more. When we awoke in the morning, the
wonderful aroma of a gourmet breakfast wafted up the stairs and beckoned
us to the dining room. We were served an egg souffl?, baked apples and
coffee cake, which were all delicious. Hosts Jim and Patricia Irvin live
on-site and make sure all their guests have everything they
need, plus they help
with travel and sight-seeing arrangements and dinner reservations. I only
wish we could have stayed longer - a stay at the Colonel Taylor comes with
our highest recommendation. Check out their website
for more photos and information about the accommodations they offer. Pictured:

Fox Run Vineyards
Receives Two Best Buys
from National Magazines
Fox Run Vineyards has received national attention concerning two of its award winning
wines. The April 2008 issue of Food & Wine magazine has chosen Fox Run's 2006 Dry Riesling ($15) as a "Best American Wine $15 & Under" and describes the wine as complex; hailing from the "cool Finger Lakes where they produce very good aromatic whites, particularly Rieslings."
The April 2008 issue of Wine Enthusiast lists Fox Run non-vintage Chardonnay as a BEST BUY ($10). "Luscious fruit and toast aromas are the beginning of this fun wine...On the palate, it offers good Chardonnay flavors and a round, supple
mouthfeel.
Fox Run is open year round from 10-6, and 11-6 on Sunday. Come to our tasting room and look for these award winning wines.
